Peterson of Sandy, Utah will host an open house honoring their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary, Saturday, March 21, 1970 from five until nine oclock p.m. at the Sandy Second Ward Church at 201 North 200 East Sandy, Utah. Fire Ladies Julie Shell COOKS Mrs. Dawna Stewart of the ClothShoppe in Payson was guest speaker at a meeting of the Lady Firemen, held at the Fire Station last Monday evening. Mrs. Stewart discussed materials and styles for spring, and also told of the various kinds of materials and other details of interest to women. Mrs. Frank Coombs, president, was in charge of the meeting. The litney was read by Mrs. Blaine Write. Add the water and lemon juice. Work together the sugar, the flour and the butter until it is a crumbly mixture. Spread this over the apples. Dont cover the dish but bake in oven 350 degrees until apples are tender. Serve warm, either plain or with whipped cream. Elder Paul C. Child officiated at the ceremony, witnessed by Orville G. Thompson and Terry B. Jasperson. They were honored immediately afterward at a wedding breakfast given at Harmons Cafe (250 North West Temple) in Salt Lake City, hosted by parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Barrett of Bountiful. Other members of the wedding party were the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Andrew Jasperson stood as matron of honor, and other attendants were Charlotte Howard, Rachel Woody, Lana Arnold and Marla Barrett. They wore full length gowns of lavender satin fashioned with scoop necklines and bell sleeves, and tied at the empire waistlines with lavender velvet ribbon. They carried elegant pink or white carnation bouquets, dotted with pink baby roses and tied with lavender Barrett received guests ribbons. She is presently attending school in Provo. Mr. Hone is a graduate of Spanish Fork High School. He is now employed by Kennecott Copper, Tintic division. No date has been set by the couple. DATE ROLL 12 pound marshmellows 12 cup cream , 12 pound dates . . 1 pound graham crackers 12 cup chopped walnuts ' 12 cup evaporated milk, whipped Cut the marshmallows in squares with scissors. You can do it much easier if you dip the scissors in hot water as you work. Drop the marshmallows in the cream. If the dates have seeds, take them out, then cut the dates in 4 pieces. Roll the crackers fine. Mix all the ingredients together and put it on wax paper with a large spoon. Roll the wax paper around the mixture, and have the roll about 8 inches long. Put in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. When you are ready to serve your surprise, slice it in slices about 1 inch thick. If you have some extra whipped cream put a spoonful on each slice and add a maraschino cherry on top. (This can be rolled in graham cracker crumbs before putting in fridge, if desired). ' Beth Huish, chairman, introduced a panel composed of young university students as follows: Jeff Winston and A1 Walcher of University of Utah; John Fer-fesand Terrill Hunt of Brigham Young University. They spoke of their views in an interesting way, stating that the young people on the campuses want a voice in the planning of their studies and want a liberal administration that will allow such. The meeting was conducted by Captain . Dorothy Christensen. The pledge to the flag was led by daughter Leah Waters. Prayer was given by Lillian Hancock. Song, Sweet Genevieve was led by Dora Hancock. Captain Dorothy told about the daughters of the pioneers convention in Salt Lake, April 4th. She also read the titles of the lessons for next year. She ask that any one having pioneer history that would help with any of these lessons, please get it in. Florence Bryson gave a history of her Amy Hancock. Jennie Cox gave the lesson, Pioneers of Scotland. She showed the different coat of arms of several Scotish families. She also showed different kinds of plaid from Scotish families. While refreshments were served she played Scotish music on a tape recorder. Viola Butler led the pledge of allegiance to the flag and also to the Utah State flag. Viola Cowan led the singing. ' She announced that the DUP spring convention will be held April 4 in Salt Lake City. It will be the 69th annual convention of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She also read the program of events for the day. Lenora Huish read a roster of names of the officers for next year that the nominating committee had selected, for next months election. Mrs. Dorthella Benson read an interesting history of her great, great grandfather, George Washington Hancock. The home he built in Payson is still standing. Mrs. Iris Deuel gave the lesson, The Mormons from Scotland and Wales. Peteetneet School was the scene for a play presented to Mrs. Oborns class by Mrs. Dunns class. The play was in conjunction ' with a social studies unit on Utah. Mrs. Dunns class made all their own costumes and properties. There were even two black locomotives on the stage. The players were: Tim Bowers, Debbie Garrett, Janet Hazel, Paula Miller, Tom Mitchell, Larry Hazel, Joanna Montague, Matt Olsen, Stephynie Serrans and Bart Greenhalgh. The history of Jacob Hamblin, pioneer missionary, was read by Arva Allgood. Leona Thomas gave the lesson on Pioneers from Wales and Scotland. She told the story of the stalwart John Lewis. Wof-find- SENIOR CITIZENS : Camp Nebo, Daughter of Utah Pioneers, met March 12, at the Payson First-Fift- h Ward church, with Hazel Zeeman, second vice captain, in charge.
