Black, general superintendent of Geneva Works, the Y'ests largest integrated steel mill, was named Manager of Utah Oparaticns for U. S. Steel Steels Columbia-Genev- a Division and Manager of Operations for U. S. Steel's Columbia-Genev- a Steel Division and Manager of Operations of the Columbia Iron Mining Company, it was announced today by Leslie B. Worthington, Division president. A. E. Terry was named to succeed Mr. Black as Geneva general superintendent. Carl J. Forkum will succeed Mr. Terry as assistant general superintendent at the big steel plant. A veteran steelmaker with more than 34 years experience with U. S. Steel, Mr. Black is a native of Donora, Pa. He began his career at the Donora zinc plant of the American Steel and He held various Wire Company. positions in the mechanical shops there, and was later promoted to field engineer of this plant. While he served in this capacity he attended Carnegie Institute cuf Technology and was graduated with a B. S. degree in civil engineering in 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Black, the former Harriet Tefft, and their two sons, Larry and Gerry, live in Provo. Mr. Terry began his steelmaking career as a laborer in 1924 at the Ironton plant of the former Columbia Steel Company. A native of Morrisonville, 111., he was graduated from Shurtleff College in Alton, Illinois in 1920, and came to Utah that year to serve as principal of the Beaver, Utah, High School.
