Show 8 THE PAYSON CHRONICLE ' Spring Lake Events Thursday, June 19, 1969 Unori Huith West Mountain Views Mrs. Ruby Msradith Phona 445-333- 2 Mr. and Mrs. Max Schramm announce the arrival of their 19th grandchild, a daughter, born June 10th to Adj2 Max and Colleen Huitt Schramm of Fort Muger, California. The new baby weighed 6 lbs. and 7 oz. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Allen Makim of Orem. Steven B. Farr, son of Mr. and H.H. Mrs. Farr, arrived May 30 at 5:30 a.m. at the Salt Lake Airport from Fort Wolters, Texas. At 4:00 p.m. the same day after a very short visit with his family and friends, he and his wife, Kathleen Hogan Farr, left by car for his army base. Mrs. Farr will make her home at Weatherford, Texas which is near the army WOC base. Derek and Korin Cooper, children of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Cooper of Sandy, visited one week with their aunt, uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jackson. Other guests at the Jackson home were Jerry and Lena Cahill, children of Jerry and Lena Cahill of Salt Lake who visited from Friday until Monday. daughter of Dale and with her cousin, Eva Dean Taylor of Loa, Utah, from May 29 until June 8th. They attended the MIA Camp for three days. Shelly Jackson, Iris Jackson, visited Little Miss Patricia Erekson, daughter of Harold and Vilda Erekson, was honored Saturday afternoon on her fifth birthday at her home. The following friends greeted her and enjoyed refreshments and games together: Paula Meredith, Janet Rowley, Becky Rindlisbacher, Janette Tanner, Jeanne Carlisle, Kenya Blatter, David Stickney and Carlene Butler. ( Phon 445-263- 1 The group of mutual marrieds who met at the church Friday night had a very delightful time at their Spagetti Party. They played a number of games which furnished the entertainment for the evening. The spagetti supper was a rather unique affair. Various types of household utensils such as a potatoe masher, beaters from a mix master and etc were placed near some of the plates which were covered. Guests were allowed to select their place and were required to eat the spagetti with whatever utensil was disclosed when the plates were uncovered. Imagine trying to eat spagetti with a potatoe masher. Everyone enjoyed the games and supper. Guests for dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Fisher on Sunday were Mrs. Elsie Nelson, Lenora Huish and Ray Huish. They had a pleasant time visiting the Fishers and with Mrs. Fishers sister, Mrs. Cynthia T. Carter, from Salt Lake who had stayed at the Fisher home to help while Mrs. Fisher was convalescing after being a patient at the Utah Valley Hospital. Frank Griffith was a patient at the Payson Hospital from F riday until Tuesday of last week for observation. Overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Butler Monday night were her sisters, Hilda, and husband, Art Kinder, from Las Vegas, Nevada. They came to attend the funeral services of their brother-in-law, Ray Lofgran, held in Spring-vill- e, Tuesday morning. Mrs. Lillie Shaw from Nephi visited at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Davis, most of last week after attending the wedding reception of her granddaughter held Friday night in Payson, with her daughter. Mrs. Ethel Hurst was happy to greet special guests at her home recently. They were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Caldwell of Vernal, Utah, originally from Rupert, Idaho. Mrs. Caldwell is a half sister to Ethel and it was only the second time in her life they had met each other. went to to the attend Springville, Tuesday morning funeral services held for their brother-in-laRay Lofgran, who died June 6 in a Spanish Fork Hospital. They also visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manfred Arnold at Salem, and had dinner with thirteen persons attended there full time. They were Ursla Wayman and her daughters, Sherie and Natasha; Mrs. Marjorie Berry; Mrs. Hazel Baird; Mrs. Ruth Rothe; Mrs. Helen Cowan; Wendy Bishop; Margarette Wayman; Mrs. Merilyn Thatcher and daughter, Terri Lynn Thatcher; Mark Berry and Mrs. Martha Hall. Butler, Kelly Smith, grandson of the late Albert McBeth and Mrs. Donna McBeth of Los Angeles, Calif., will make his home with the Craig Waymans. He will assist with the orchard work. Little Julie Marie Gale smiled at her Monday as she looked up at them following a tonsillectomy operation at the Payson Hospital. She is happy to be convalescing at home. parents Congratulation and best wishes are extended to Cynthia Cleveland, a former West Mountain foster Indian student, in receiving an LDS Summer Mission call for the month of July to the Southwest Indian Mission. Mrs. Ruth Rothe and Mrs. Ruby Meredith attended a young married folks cottage meeting Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Durrant at Spring Lake. Mrs. Rothe was guest speaker. Delois Gold was hostess at a quilting party Saturday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Gold. The quilt was very special as it was pieced many years ago by her deceased grandmother, Emma R. Hatch. Those present were girl friends and their mothers; Deona Jackson and Mrs. Iris Jackson; Brenda and Mrs. Lora Rowley; Lynda and Mrs. Thelma Tanner; Sandra Starr and Vilda Erekson. The quilt was an outstanding treasure for Deloiss trousseau. Mrs. Elsie Kester, formerly of West arrived at Payson June 2 for an indefinite visit with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Kester of Payson and Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Jolley of Provo. Mrs, Kester has been making her home with her daughter, Goldie, and her husband, Neil Van Zandt ofSocorro, New Mexico. Friends and neighbors are truly glad to greet her after a long absence. Mountain, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bushman were a lovely wedding reception Thursday evening June 12 at the West Ward Cultural Hall honoring their daughter, Marilyn, and Mr. Blaine L. Carlton, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Carlton of Lehi. The young couple were married the same day in the Salt Lake Temple and will make their home in Salt Lake. Mr. Carlton is attending the U of U majoring in Political Science. He plans to attend law school. Those who attended the marriage ceremony at the Salt Lake Temple were the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bushman, West Mountain; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carlton, Lehi- - Mr. and Mrs. John Bushman, Mr. and Mrs. CalvinUrry, Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Richards, Provo; Bishop and Mrs. Sterling Spencer and Kenneth hosts at Mis- Friday evening at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cowan went to Strawberry Friday afternoon on a fishing trip. Later in the evening they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Butler and the two couples spent Saturday fishing on the lake. Visiting with Mrs. Vola Butler on Saturday and having dinner with her were her son, Mr. Lynn Moore from Kaysville, and his son, Robert Moore from Alameda, Calif., where he is stationed. He flew up for the weekend to visit with his family. Overnight guests on Thursday night were her grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Butler from Orem. They went to Manti early Friday morning and attended a session in the temple. When they returned home they stopped and enjoyed dinner with their grandmother. They also took her out for a ride. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Peery returned home Friday night from a weeks vacation trip in Southern Utah. They had a pleasant time touring Bryce Canyon and Zions National Park. They were joined on their trip by their daughter, Susan Peery, and friends, Vicky Kaletta and Nadine Clayson, who drove down and spent two days with them at Bryce. They returned home Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lyman and son, Ross, recently returned home from a trip touring Southern Utah. They spent eight days visiting at Teasdale, Moab, Bullfrog Basin, Boulder and Fish Lake, visiting interesting places around each. When they fished at Boulder, Ross was the lucky one, catching his limit which made them a delicious fresh fish supper. At Teasdale and Boulder they visited with all of Mr. Lymans relatives living in the area. They report a very enjoyable trip. Mr. and Mrs. Don L. Butler and four children visited with their grandmother, Mrs. Fanny V. Butler, Saturday afternoon. They also visited for a while at the home of an uncle, Ray Huish. Mr. Butler and family were enroute to Mobile, Alabama. He was transferred from Alaska to Ala- Bushman. Following the marriage a wedding breakfast was hosted by the grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Another oldtime picture of students at Peteetneet School has found its way back to Payson, this one sent by a former resident, Minnie Curtis Dawson, now residing in Long Beach, Calif. It was taken in 1906 and shows the Sixth and Seventh grades with teacher George Stewart. friends and rela- tives attended the wedding reception Saturday evening at theSantaquinStake Center honoring Mr. and Mrs. Merton Moon. Merton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Moon of West Mountain and Mrs. Moon, the former Sharon Lynn Van Ausdal, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Ausdal of Santaquin. The marriage was performed by Bishop Sterling Spencer prior to the reception. Thursday evening a dinner was held in honor of the young couple at the Oak Crest Inn. Those present were the honored couple, Merton and Sharon; the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Moon; Mr. and Mrs. James L. Moon of Springville; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Ausdal of Santaquin; Mrs. Sandra Wyler of Salem; Gaylen Moon and Venice Moon. Mn. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brough were dinner guests last Sunday at the Wallace Hickman home. Mrs. Grieve is president of the Utah Rose Society for the year. Michael Okelberry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Okelberry, and husband of Dianna Okelberry, returned home last Saturday after spending his year of duty at Vietnam. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dunn and sons of Tooele spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sher Thomas. Dale Mrs. Rilla Beck spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of her brother and sister-in-laMr. and Mrs. George Cook. She visited her brother at Payson Hospital. Done, Greg Crook is Dixie graduate Greg Crook graduated from Dixie College at St. George Saturday, June 7. He is a graduate of Payson High School where he was active in football. Greg has played football for Dixie College the past two years. He and his wife, former Shelley Stephens will make their home in St. George during the summer where he is presently employed. He plans on attending Weber College in the fall. Greg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Crook. w, Carol Thomas, Pam and Carrie Boswell, and Laurie Hopes spent the weekend at the Homestead at Dry Herd Canyon. The girls made the trip by horse back. Mrs. Milton Buxton visited in Salt Lake last Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Shirley Rook and Mrs. P.G. Grieve. City Mr. and Mrs. A1 Chapman and sons, Cal and Buddy, spent the weekend with their mother and grandmother at the Milton Buxton home. Buddy is home on a furlough from the Army and is stationed in Germany. Howard Trotter and Jim Morgan left here he will for two years. He is in the aviation branch of the Coast Guard. It is their duty to go out on search and rescue missions in a plane or helicopter in cases of accidents or emergencies, often flying patients to the hospital when necessary and helping with emergency bama aft the treatment and first aid. Mrs. Fanny V. Butler has received word Mrs. Ardell H. that her daughter-in-laButler left for Hawaii on Sunday and had arrived there safely. Her brother and wife met her at the airport. She will be at her brothers home for three months. w, Mrs. Martha Hall from Payson was a guest at the home of Mrs. Chesley Walker Saturday night and Sunday. She attended Sunday School with Mrs. Walker and daughter, Emma. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones from Calif, arrived here on Thursday. They visited at the home of his sister, Thora and husband, Eldred Fisher and another sister, Mrs. Cynthia T. Carter, who was visiting at the Fisher home. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jasperson who have been residing in Springville have moved to Spring Lake to make their home. They are living in the small home owned by Elvon Butler. The family of Dr. and Mrs. Watson L. Lafferty had a very special homecoming at their home on Sunday when their married son and daughter, Ronald and Dianna Lafferty from Washington State, Colleen and Calvin Ewell from Frovo and Kathleen and Mike Hickman from Salt Lake, with their children and other relatives from the Salt Lake area, came togreet Elder Danny Lafferty who returned home late Saturday night from his missioninScotland.Heflew home and was met by members of his family at the Salt Lake Airport. He left 0UlidllU Saturday morning and arrived in Utah Saturday night. Elder Lafferty was the speaker at the Sunday evening meeting where he gave an account of his mission. His family and other relatives and many friends attended the meeting with him. Danny and his sister, Colleen, also sang a beautiful duet with Aroha Graham them on the piano.
