Speech Festival set at MIA June Conference The power of speech will be measured at the Speech Festival of the Mutual Improvement Associations, of the Church of ' Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. The Speech Festival is part of the varied program of the annual June Conference of the Churchs MIA organization. The festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19, at 8:15 p.m., in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. This years Speech Festival, Lift Up Thy Voice, depicts scenes of the power and influence of speech in shaping men and history. Prominent scenes in history include the Apostle Pauls speech before King Agrippa, and the Prophet Joseph Smith in Liberty Jail in Missouri. A cast of 1,300 speakers and dancers will participate under the direction of specialists, in theatrical arts - choreography, costumes and scenery. Speech Clinics, featuring skillful speech directors at Utah universities, will also be conducted for Church organization leaders.
