Services were held Friday, February 13, 1998, in the Payson West 8th Ward Chapel, under the direction of Walker Mortuary. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Myrtle Rudd Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Karl Milton Ashton, age 59, of Spring Lake, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 16, 1998. He was born June 19, 1938, in Provo, Utah, a son of Clarence D and Anna Spot-te- n Ashton. He married Marie Gammon in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 21, 1957. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He served humbly and faithfully in various leadership positions. He taught el'ementary school for 30 years and touched the lives of many children in the classroom and as a home bound teacher. He also loved working on his farm with his father and family. He is survived by his wife of Spring Lake and his father of Provo; one brother and three sisters: Donavon (Kathy) Ashton, Margaret (Don) Morrill, Pat (Glen) Foote, Cathy (Kenneth) Dodds; nine children: Carolyn (Mark) Woffinden, Joann (Brandon) Kirk, LaRae (Sam) Bellows, Barbara (Rodney) McCoy, Ronald (Jennifer) Ashton, Julianne (Troy) Griffith, Paul (Jeannie) Ashton, Marianne (Joe) Aguilar, Michael Ashton and his fiance, Wendy Westergard; and 26 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother. Funeral services will beheld Thursday, February 19, 1998, at 11:00 a.m., in the Spring Lake Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, p.m., or at the church on Thursday, a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery. 00 10-10:- 45 Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Elaine Reynolds Martin, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday morning, February 12, 1998. She was bom in Springville, Utah, on July 26, 1921, to James Edward and Oma Johnson Reynolds. She was the 7th of 10 children. She attended school in Springville, and, in 1937, she married Reed Dean Glazier. They divorced, and in 1941, she met and married Earl W. Martin. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. They had been together for 56 years. Elaine was active in the LDS Church. She served in the Primary, the Relief n Society, and, most recently, in the program. Elaines life was devoted to her family. She spent long hours in service to them and to others. She was an excellent homemaker. She was filled with charity, always putting others before herself. Words can never express the love we have for her or how much she will be missed. We will always have dear memories of her. Elaine is survived by her husband, Earl W. Martin; her children: Connie Glazier (Don) Rose of South Jordan, Ronald Earl (Ginger) Martin of Spanish Fork, Dennis James (Sharlene) Martin of Payson, Marlene (Jerry) McQuivey of Midvale, Janis White of Santaquin, Laura (Dwayne) Hinton of Orem, and Robert L. (Betty) Martin of West Valley City; two sisters: Geniel (Wilson) Smith of Stillwell, Oklahoma; Leah (Dennis) Holt of South Jordan; and a brother, Blake (Rhea) Reynolds of Provo, Utah. He was born July 7, 1940, in East Chicago, Illinois, a son of George Watson and Eleanor Josephine Bates Wills. He married Merrilee Fisher in August of 1960 at Highland, Indiana. They were later divorced. He married Karen Janeane Armstrong on January 24, 1975, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized October 11, 1986, in the Provo LDS Temple. James worked for Geneva Steel. He loved being with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He was a High Priest and had served as a stake missionary and a Sunday School teacher. He had been involved in all aspects of the Scouting organization. Jim was many things to many people. r, He was a husband, father, grandpa, leader, and friend. His love for life, learning, and family was reflected by the way he lived. Although a deeply spiritual man, he was sometimes missing from church, preferring the serenity of "Gods Country". He loved camping, Fishing, and hunting ghost towns. His desire to learn more about the people of the past grew into a passion. He spent the last few years of his life visiting ghost towns, Indian ruins, and listening to stories told by the people who had once lived in those areas. In addition, he loved poetry, music, theater, literature, and never passed an opportunity to tell a good story or two himself. Though this chapter of his life has ended, his love and passion will continue to touch those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by a Diana Kaye; 2 brothers: Robert and John step-fathe- step-daughte- rs n: o, great-grandchildre- n; h, step-daught- er, mother and grandmother, passed away in Spanish Fork, Utah, on February 10, 1998, at the age of 95 years. Myrtle was born April 16, 1902, in Teton City, Idaho, and was the sixth child of Jacob and Sarah Bird Johnston. She received her education in Teton schools and in Rexburg. She graduated three times from Ricks: from high school in 1920, in 1939 with an associates degree, and in 1955 with a four-yedegree in education. She married Clarence Lester Welch June 5, 1929, in the Logan LDS Temple. Myrtle was widowed eight years later. On May 26, 1943, she married Ira Eugene Rudd in the Logan Temple. He passed away September 2, 1968. They were the parents of one daughter, Barbara Gene Rudd. Myrtle taught in Fremont, Co., schools for 27 years, mostly in Central School in St. Anthony. She lived most of her life in Parker, Idaho. Myrtle was an active member of the LDS Church and filled many church positions, serving a mission to the Central States in 1923. She also served as Stake Young Womens President and in numerous ward callings. In later years, she was active in the DUP organization. ar She is remembered for her acute knowledge of Gospel principles, as well as for her wit and humor. Myrtle spent her last several years in the home of her daughter in Goshen, Utah. She is survived by daughter, Barbara (Roger) Jensen, Goshen, Utah; another daughter, Ruth R. Miller, Parker, Idaho; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, two husbands, and another daughter, Zola R. Silvester. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, 1998, in Teton City, Idaho, under the direction of Holladay Hills Funeral Home of Santaquin. Interment, in the Teton-NewdalIdaho Cemetery. e, |
