Show commissioners MEET transact Tran tact much routine business busine all commissioners in attendance the board of commissioners of iron county count y met in regular session tuesday at 10 a 9 in H W lunt R C knell and wm win A evans being present following is the business done wm win H grimshaw reported that he called a meeting of the bee keepers of that county at which a goodly number were present they were unanimously in favor of making an effort to rid the bees in in the county of all disease and supporting a bee inspector at all times without any recommendation as to whom they wished the commissioners to appoint mr grimshawe Grim shaws report was considered and the gentleman was given the appointment as bee inspector john W benson asked for an appropriation of 25 as pay for planks used in repairing a bridge abridge in the braffit canyon amount appropriated J D cox was appointed justice of the peace and alonzo christenson as constable of newcastle precinct u upon P on recommendation of commissioner knell with a view of reducing the licenses of the larger mercantile houses of the county the clerk was instructed to ask for a statement from said houses of the amount of stock carried by each the clerk was instructed to ask for an opinion from the attorney general as to the power of the board in designating roads throughout the county and particularly if they had power to create public high ways on all section lines in districts that are now being settled and fenced action on several petitions for roads to be designated particularly one from citizens of enoch and one from john H perry and others owning land on the west side of the cedar meadow was deferred pending a reply from the attorney general and an investigation by the road supervisor an order was entered calling a special election of the citizens of the newcastle precinct giving them an opportunity to vote for a fence law in that precinct at present range cattle run at large and the citizens desire that a fence law be made so that section of the county may be protected the clerk was ordered to give notice of election and thos forsyth J D cox and frank knell were appointed as judges the following claims were allowed J B roberts road work R RH H palmer R RC C knell 2000 ed bentley 1226 thos holyoak 1 1537 wm win T morris vital s statistics t ati sties john dutton I 1 1325 geo morris criminal exp eap 1075 F FL L green ernest hill C CH H smith wm win brooks wm perry N S whitney indigent exp eap chas bentley isaac lemmon for coffin catherine richards treasa treas sst mary A gunn 2600 gwen benson 1500 maud A benson 4 1150 iron county record stationery century petg co arrow press office fixtures 2869 W W mitchell office exp eap 1450 J 11 corry sheriffs exp eap 1225 11 W lunt corn com exp eap R RC C knell 2000 after the allowing of the claims was completed the matter of the publishing ishi ng of the delinquent tax list I 1 was discussed and the clerk was ordered I 1 to call for bids in order to find out if possible who are entitled to the dependant mothers fund 4 it was decided that the commissioners commissioners meet with the widows of summit and northern part of the county in parowan carowan nov 6 and those ot enoch and southern part of the county in cedar city december 7 A full explanation of the the purpose of this fund w will ill be made to the widows at these meetings and the clerk was ordered to notify all who claim to be eligible ele gible to receive benefit from the fund hereafter no one will receive money from this fund without first apper ing before the commissioners and making application this completing the business of the commissioners the meeting was adjourned until nov 6 1915 |
