Show JONATHAN H BURIED AT PARAGONAH by paragonah Para gonah correspondent funeral services were held sunday afternoon at 2 p in in the ward chapel for john H 65 who died wednesday may 31 of heart trouble at the iron county hospital bishop doyle robinson presided and the choir sang 1 I know my heavenly father knows as the opening number richard N lund offered the invocation and the choir sang abide with me the speakers were mrs idella robinson amenzo thos W jones of paragonah Para gonah and marlo of parowan carowan Pa rowan with closing remarks by bishop robinson musical numbers were a vocal solo one ohe sweetly solemn thought by mrs mary dalton and a violin solo by silas M of paro wan the choir sang oh my father as the closing number and the benediction was by jethro palmer of cedar city at the cemetery the choir sang slumber and jos E lister offered the dedicatory prayer A very large number of people from this and other surrounding communities were in attendance at the services and the floral offerings were many and beautiful mr was born here december 31 1873 a son of jonathan and elizabeth reese he was the second child in a family of seven his parents were converted to the L D S church in wales and were among the first settlers of parowan carowan valley he married mary robb april 29 1908 in the manti temple and to them two daughters were born he held the office of an elder and ward teacher in the priesthood he also served as a teacher in the sunday school and a councilor in the Y M al I 1 A he held a num ber of offices in civic organizations s and at the time of his death was a director in the paragonah Para gonah cattle and stock association for the last 38 years of his life lif i he has had very poor health anol ami has been a constant sufferer for years he lived at cedar city where he could receive medical aid from dr middleton while there he attended the branch normal school he was honest neat careful and industrious he attended to his own business and gave his fel the same privilege ile he was not able to do any manual labor but he was a good manager and kept his property per t y I 1 in i n good condition he was a good neighbor a true friend and a devoted father he is survived by his wife mary two daughters alice and mrs roka hero thornton two grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters sister david and stanley mrs mary A robb and mrs M margaret argaret jones all of paragonah Para gonah |
