Mam Stw ;t,i.T mnpr The Lincoln School By Hal Compton Research historian. Park City Museum This was the Lincoln School as it appeared sometime around 1915. Built in 1896 of red brick, it stood at 1031 Norfolk Ave. Park City's first high school originally met in the upper rooms of the main building on the left while grade school classes met on the lower floors. The addition on the right was completed in 1914 and then housed the high school. However, the addition was built on boggy ground. The foundation cracked and it was torn down in 1928 when the new high school on Park Avenue was completed. The structure with twin smokestacks was the boiler room for the school. Children attending Lincoln called themselves lower-enders while those attending Jefferson School on upper Park Avenue were called upper-enders. There was a friendly competition between the two groups. In 1936, all the elementary schools in the city were consolidated into the Marsac School and both lower- and upper-enders became the same. Lincoln school was torn down in 1936. Just back from a trip? Celebrating a special event? Won an award? The Park Record will include it in Personal Paragraphs... and it's free!
