Obituary Donna Lynne Gertsch rniniini''" mi iiininniiiiin imuep Courtesy Park City Museum , Bea Kummer phot o collection This photograph of Park City in the 1890s shows Creole Gulch and the surrounding mountains covered with trees. Later, these trees were cut for mine timbering and fuel. The trees in Creole Gulch today are second-growth. Creole Mine is visible halfway up the gulch, as is the roadbed of the Crescent Mine tramway in the center right. The Silver King Coalition aerial tramway towers had not yet been installed. The rails of the Union Pacific Railroad and the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad can be seen next to Park Avenue. Lower Woodside and Norfolk are clearly visible west of Park Avenue. In the 1920s, two ski jumps were constructed con-structed at the mouth of Creole Gulch using the waste rock from the old mine.
