A 33-year-old Park City man was killed early Friday morning as a result of Injuries received in a two-vehcile two-vehcile accident in 1-80 about a half mile west of Parley's Summit. The accident claimed the life of Robert L. Barnum-Reece, Barnum-Reece, whose westbound pick-up pick-up struck the rear of a truck driven by Wade J. Wardell of Emblem, Wyo. Wardell escaped es-caped injury. Barnum-Reece, who was traveling with his white Labrador, was taken to the University Medical Center following the 12:02 a.m. accident. He was dead on arrival. A wake was held in his lonor at 14SJ W'oodside Ave. in Park City Monday afternoon. Prior to his death, Barnum-Reece Barnum-Reece requested that his organs he donated to the University of Utah Medical Center, and that his body be cremated and his ashes be spread on Jupiter Peak near his home. The family requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to KPCW, Park City's non-profit radio station, which Barnum-Reece enthusiastically enthu-siastically supported. He was born Jan. 9, 1948 in Salt Lake City to Oma K. Hickman and Dick Reece. His parents and step-father Harr y L. Barnum, Jr., preceded him in death. He is survived by his brothers, Richard, Brent and Scott Barnum-Reece and a sister, Kathleen Cole. He is also survived by his long-time friend and companion Linda Beattie of Park City. He graduated from Lincoln Junior High and South High School in Salt Lake before entering the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam as a combat engineer. He was employed as a Colorado River guide and was an avid skier and enthusiastic outdoorsman. He worked as a ski patrolman, lift attendant and hotel division administrator administra-tor at Park City Resort. He also enjoyed working with wood and was recently labored as a carpenter. |
