Show Main Street mall gets occupancy permit from city The Main Street Marketplace Mall has received a certificate of occupancy, according to project manager Steve Nipkow. "All the normal construction and safety conditions have been met." said Nipkow. "In addition, we have resolved with the city conditions of approval they had on the mall." The controversial conditions of approval involved the renovation of the "little red house" on Park Avenue adjacent to the project and the development of 22 parking spaces for mall patrons. "We placed money in an escrow account with our lender, American Savings, for the renovation of that house and tor the completion of any items that may be needed lolinish the mall," said Nipkow. "As to the parking spaces, as scon as the weather permits we will provide 22 spaces on the land we own between the Egyptian Theatre arid the Mountain Rose t boutique). Then, as we lease additional spaces on the third level food court, we will put in more parking spaces or provide the city with money to provide spaces as required by the code." Nipkow said plans now call for most shops to begin moving into the mall around the first of February, with a grand opening planned in mid-February. |
