Show Wednesday, July 10, 1974 COMM -- Paged TO THE EDITOR Park City Coalition Park City Coalition Park City, Utah 84060 Park City, Utah 84060 Dear Editor: The responsibility for a July 4 celebration in Park City was dropped in the lap of Connie Woolsey, the secretary of the Park City Chamber of Commerce, one week before the event! In that short time she assembled a committee to help, arranged for publicity flyers (which necessitated two trips into Salt Lake), and tied together loose ends to try and produce a day of fun and entertainment. We'll skip over the results of the effort. The point is the lack of decision to have a celebration. Hie 4th of July comes every year, and every year Park City has a celebration so why not start planning early and have a bang- - -- upatiair! And for heavens sake, next time lets not forget to have an AMERICAN FLAG lead the parade! There are many people in Park City who would be proud to carry the Colors and Im included in that list! Park City should be grateful to Connie Woolsey for her dedicated effort. Shes new to Park City but has proved shes a REAL Parkite. July 7, Dear Editor: A Yell About Cats and Dogs ! For one thing, we have a lost or abandoned kitten. Its a male and hes striped. We have four cats and thats the end of the line. I think that if people want to get rid of animals, they should try to give them away, or bring them to the Humane Society and let them try to give them away or have them killed humanely. Abandoning cats or dogs actually is very cruel because if the animal doesnt find a home, he will either starve or get killed by other animals. Just leaving a can of cat or dog food wont last for long and in the winter there is nothing for him or her to eat and he or she will die suffering. If you have an animal, the best thing to do is have it Neutered or Spayed so that when the animal dies thats the end of the line. They are not leaving generations of cats or dogs behind. If you have lost a kitten, come check with us, or if you would be interested in in having one, we would be willing 3 to have it Neutered. Call and ask for Karri. 649-910- Dear Editor: THEFT FOR THOUGHT At a time in my life when I have solidified a basically optimistic view of the human condition, I confronted a blemish to such thinking. Specifically, some person (s) rifled my clothing at the Maytag laundry on the 4th. I have heard people in similar cases rationalize their situation by saying, They must need it I contend, no one more than needs my clothing more than 1. 1 am by no sense of the word moneyed. But, I will assuredly survive. I hope that the person(s) guilty have enough intelligence not to wear the clothes in town. If they do have the thoughts, not to wear them in town, then their apprehension will be punishment enough. If they do not have the apprehension, then they certainly are most unfortunate people. Our dogs decided to go Fourth of July Awards and Thanks Park Citys July Fourth exploring in the mountains. Occasionally they take a walk, but return in an hour or two. Last Sunday they made their jaunt an ovemighter. That pretty much convinced us that they had come to a bad end, what with the celebration was highlighted by a colorful parade down Main Street. In addition to the prizes given to winners of the various current procession who were voted outstanding in their class. In the motor vehicle category, the Childrens Summer Program entry was selected as the most original. Wayne Putnams was voted the funniest and the Park City Royalty vehicle was judged as die best effort. Among the children marching in the parade, the two young miners, Jeff Smith and Tom Sproule, were decided upon as the most original. Nancy the Clown, as portrayed by Nancy Moore, was the funniest and the best effort award went the clown group composed of the Girls Pep drome. sheepherder syn- Upon returning home Monday evening we were greeted by our precious friends both sore and exhausted. On the front door was pinned a note of explanation from Officer Dennis Leatham. Two . young ladies found the dogs near Guardmans Pass. They brought the dogs to him and he brought them to our house. The young ladies could have left the dogs in the mountains why bother? Officer Leatham could have turned the dogs over to the dogcatcher. But instead these three people saved us continued concern and saved the dogs further pain and possibly saved their lives. Yes, Park City has some problems as demonstrated by the John and Mary Show Dennis Leatham isnt one of them. Toko, Shadow, Brenda and David Chaplin thank you most Thke stock in America. Now Bonds pay a bonus at maturity contests which followed the parade, awards were presented to participants in the gay Club. Honors for the best float were garnered by Greater Park City Company. Overall planning of the festivities was conducted by Mrs. Connie Woolsey of the Chamber of Commerce who worked miracles on very short notice. Mrs. Woolsey wanted to extend special thanks to Mr. Wayne Putnam, who acted asmaster of ceremonies for the assorted activities and to Recreation Director Kathy Kocinski, who coordinated the days events and who was in charge of purchasing prizes and paraphernalia . Also to be congratulated are Sheila Ivers, Chairman of the Parade and Awards Committees, and her committee members. These members include Mari Helm, Julie Christians, Carolyn Huff, Nancy Moore, Marie Miller, and Rob Sludom.
