Show . THE Wednesday, June 5, 1974 MRK CITY .. .I . cum Page IS Some Fished - Some Didnt -- NET PLAY by David Mueller High Altitude Blues by sieve Kemp Last Saturday was the opening of fishing season here in Utah. I was out there. So was everyone else, I think. I saw some people who wanted to fish. And I saw a lot of others who wanted to herd sheep, break fenherd ces, dogs, and throw garbage. I even saw one guy who wanted to talk but who said he wanted to go back to bed because there were too g many people. Maybe thats why he had that dog with him. I heard that some young angler snagged a couple of real nice browns out of Kimball Creek below the Conoco. I offer him or her my congratulations. I cant personally say I did as well, although I did Park Citys unique location can be both ideal and troublesome for tennis players. At high altitudes, the ball will tend to float on deep shots, serves will often be long and bounces will be higher. Trying to keep the ball in play at 7,000 feet is a challenge for even the most experienced players. By putting more topspin on your shots, the ball will drop sooner and you will find that your consistency will improve as your rallies lengthen. However, keep in mind that the wrist plays no role in achieving more topspin. The secret is in your positioning and the arc of your swing. Your swing should start low and finish high, particularly on your forehand drive; a levd swing wont do at 7,000 feet. Try not to let high bouncing balls prevent you from starting your swing at a point well below your waist. Be prepared to run more to position yourself correctly so you can hit the ball at a lower spotnot at the peak of the pool-divin- draw that first blood. I think I led the league in casts in the back of the head, lost flies, and tangled leaders To say nothing of sick (Old Crow Fever) fishing partners (he did and in rally nicely, though, actually had a fly the water by 2 PM). There are a few things Im sure of. First, the water will go down, sometime. Second, the water will clear up, sometime after the water goes down. Third, just as soon as the water goes down and clears up, the fish will begin jumping. As they jump, they will come closer to the angler and be easier to catch because he wont have to let out all that line to get to the bottom. And thats just what we want, isnt it? If you have an unusual fishing story, or an exceptional catch youd like to tell us about, call 2 or write the Coalition . bounce. Remember, dosing the racquet face with a quick wrist roll or flick wont result in more topspin. Its all in the swing your CfflT GOLF: Hitting the Ball mm Yes we're open And we have USGS Maps. Come see us for camping gear also. have now brought the player to the position in the swing where the club is moving very fast. There is very little that can be done to alter the path of the swing. However, the player should be thinking of swinging the forearm at the hole. The dubhead will take care of itself if We the arms and hands can be moved as fast as possible at the hde. At no time can the dubhead pass the hands before the ball is hit. The player must have the feding of being behind the ball at this point in the swing. As the swing continues, the weight moves to the back of the left foot. The right knee must be moving at the hole. It should not get ahead of the dub, but it must be moving. When the swing is completed, the weight must be all on the left foot and only the toe of the right foot is on the ground. Ralph Emery t FOOD WATER Cats need a high-fa- t diet, and the best sources of these nutrients are meat, fish and vegetables. Commercial canned cat foods can provide a balanced diet. Check the labels to determine the food value. d canned foods should have vitamin E added. Some dry food, too, will help keep you cat's teeth clean. Never give a cat pork or chicken bones as they may splinter and lodge in the stomach d or throat. kittens should be given milk as well as regular food. Always have clean fresh water available. BEDDING Cats like warmth, security and privacy. A cushion in a cardboard box with high sides makes a good bed. Never keep a cat in a cold, damp or drafty place or it will develop respiratory problems. HANDLING To pick up your cat, slip one hand under the cars chest, holding.its front legs gently but firmly with your fingers, while, at the same time, cupping your other hand under the cat's hindquarters. Never pick up a cat by the scruff of the neck or by its forefeet or around the stomach. ILLNESS A dull coat, loss of appetite, diarrhea, eye or nasal discharge, vomiting, coughing, swelling, or straining to urinate are signs of illness. Take your cat to a veterinarian immediately. Have your cat vaccinated against distemper and checked for ear mites and internal parasites. FACTS OF LIFE There are more cats alive than there are homes for them. Thousands are killed each year in pounds and shelters. Others are abandoned and starve or are killed in traffic. Do not contribute to the cat population explosion. Have your female cat spayed and your male cat neutered. You will then have a happier, better pet. Newly-weane- for fine Jewelry just' rings: ! a a.
