Federal Tax on Oleo Off: State Still Gets Cut Oleomargarine is subject to the Utah state tax of ten cents a pound, if colored, and five cents f pound if uncolored, Patrick Pat-rick Healy, Jr. chairman of the Utah State Tax commission, said this week. While the federal tax was repealed effective July 1, this does not affect the state taxes on oleomargarine. No license is required in Utah but all wholesale distributors and all manufacturers of unstamped un-stamped oleomargarine must be registered with the state. Increased sales of oleomargarine oleomar-garine are anticipated in Utah with the repeal of the federal tax, Mr. Healy said, and additional addit-ional stamps have been ordered, especially for colored oleomargarine, oleomar-garine, where an increase of 75 percent is anticipated.
