Would You Fire an honest, faithful and efficient worker, where no matters of policy are involved, simply because someone shouted "It's Time for a Change"? Or simply because someone else wanted the 30b? i In your own private business you would say no. But Orem City business is your business, Mr. Citizen. Now read the following: and vote your conscience next Tuesday. Here is the outstanding record of the present City administration which has guid ed OrenVs affairs for substantially eight years: 1. Bought and improved the present City Hall and Park of 37 acres, with valuable water rights, for $14,500 valued conservatively conserva-tively at $5(),000. 2. Bought and developed a beautiful cemetery. 3. Constructed 16 miles of sewer mams with additional miles of laterals with no cost to general tax payer. 4. Bought over 30 percent of the Alta Spring water right, one of the finest streams in -the State. Plans under way will put it in the City system soon. 5. Annexed Carterville, Grand View, Lake View, and Vineyard additions. By annexations an-nexations and hew developments they have more than doubled the assessed valuation of Orem City. 6. Extended water and police service to these annexations. 7. Constructed 8-inch water line from canyon road south on 8 East to serve Eastside Orem and connect up with Grand View serv- ice. 8. Constructed 500,000 gallon emergency emerg-ency storage reservoir at head of City system. sys-tem. 9. Advocated and helped bring about establishment of Orem Post Office. 10. Promoted Metropolitan Water District Dis-trict and its subscriptions to the Deer Creek Project for water for exchange purposes. . il. Cooperated with schools, churches, and other organizations for community recreational rec-reational programs. . 12. Furnished office facilities for ration board, Red Cross, and other war agencies during the war period without cost to these agencies. " ''!WWM 13. Aided in war bond and united war fund drives. 14. Oiled 14 miles of streets with the assistance of 'property owners. 15. Have made plans for additional water mains which are now the bottleneck in the water supply, also plans for water exchanges ex-changes and for 1,000,000 gallon storage reservoir. 16. Bought fire fighting equipment, and have planned volunteer fire department to go into operation immediately. 17. Has obtained $219,360.95 from free Government grants to help with programs. This has necessitated much hard work and patient endeavor. Services of Mayor and City Councilmen were rendered largely without with-out pay, as salaries were wholly inadequate compensation. All these programs were put over, and the net cost per each person in the community, commun-ity, because of the increase in population, has actually decreased. The net indebtedness indebted-ness per capita in 1939 was $49.28 while today to-day it is $42.58, or a decrease of $6.70. Orem citizens are fortunate to have suchr a group of progressive, efficient servants, willing to serve additional time. The present City administration represented repre-sented a United Orem. It was elected unanimously unani-mously in 1943. Reelect them and you have the best chance to keep Orem united, at least as far as it is possible to unite over 5,000 people. peo-ple. This is no time for a change. Give them a vote of confidence. Vote for W. P.
