Owned by David and JoAnne Holmes, today it has evolved into a quality custom surfacing company on 2666 E. Main St. specializing in granite, gran-ite, marble, quartz, corian, meganite surfaces. David Holmes was successful success-ful at glass work, he said, and did most of the blue chip glass in all of the LDS temples. "But there was nothing there for me," he said. At the time, he was the only one using a granite fabricator fabrica-tor for cutting glass in the Intermountain West, or "west of the Mississippi" as Holmes says. When he decided to get out of the glass business, he kept the fabricator and gave granite fabrication a try. Holmes found his real passion pas-sion and has been at it ever since. "Because 1 enjoy it," David Holmes said. "It's actually really re-ally challenging, every job is different." In 1989, they had one employee, em-ployee, himself. David and JoAnne Holmes now employ 12 people including three project proj-ect managers. High Country Granite has become a state-of-the-art custom fabrication facility offering superior craftsmanship, craftsman-ship, quality, and a quick turnaround time as stated on its Web site at www.highcoun-try-granite.com. Holmes said High Country Granite uses a computerized finisher, provides custom edge details, perfect polishing, and precision cutouts, all on site. High Country specializes in three-centimeter thick granite. "What sets us a part is that fabrication machine," Holmes sales director Sam Lee said. "We do polish it, coat it with sealant three times before it is installed in the business or home." High Country Granite caters to both large and small clients, from a one order vanity to commercial custom orders. Holmes' staff can custom cut kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, fireplace surrounds, wetwalls and tub surrounds, tables, commercial break rooms, multi-unit restrooms and kitchens, reception counters. coun-ters. They stand by their one-year one-year product warranty and carry other lines such as Eos that give a 10-year warranty war-ranty and also carry Hanstone quartz surfacing, Arizon Tile granite slabs, Contempo Tile granite slabs. "We try and stay competi tive and we're always trying to improve," Lee said. Holmes's craftsmen have done nearly all the casinos in Las Vegas, Holmes said, and currently there is a $38 million home in Camas and several custom homes in Park City High Country Granite is surfacing. sur-facing. Lee said he has noticed a shift in business lately. "We do residential, but increasingly in-creasingly we have worked with more business clientele," Lee said. "It's a bigger market, we deal in large quantities versus ver-sus single orders." JoAnne Holmes said High Country Granite craftsmen showcase their work ever 3-4 years during the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. The Utah Valley Homes Builders Association As-sociation has awarded High Country for its outstanding workmanship. "Every home show we do we get a high rating," JoAnne If you go High Country Granite Owners: David and JoAnne Holmes Address: 266 E.
