While many of the proposed changes in the plan are seen as improvements, at controversy is a request to enlarge the amount of acreage zoned commercial, and to change the current commercial zoning from CR-1 (light recreational commercial) to CV-2 (the most intense commercial development allowed in the Valley.) Currently, 7.7 acres are zoned CR-1. Wolf Creek is proposing to increase that number to 13.4 acres of commercial property. The purpose of CR-1 zone is to provide locations in the Valley and at major recreation resort areas, where service facilities and goods normally required by the public in the pursuit of general recreation activities can be obtained. A few of the many commercial developments allowed in a CV-2, and not in a CR-1 zone includes: Department stores Liquor stores Drive through fast food establishments Roofing sales or shops Second hand stores Taxidermy shops Theaters A few of the conditional uses allowed in CV-2 and not in a CR-1 includes: Taverns Private Clubs Large Household Appliance Sales The public is encouraged to attend to give public comment. The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers at the Weber Center, 2380 Washington Blvd. If you are unable to attend, comments can be directed to the Weber County Planning staff at (801) 399-8791, or fax comments to (801) 399-8862.
