Show Volume III, Issue IX THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 7 March 1, 2001 Students Perform at Winter Recital Cox Music Studio presented their Winter Recital on January 11 at the Huntsville Library. With 72 people in attendance, the students performed exceptionally well, according to their teacher Cheryl Cox, and owner of Cox Music Studios. Refreshments were served afterwards. Four recitals a year are held along with six Master Classes and weekly half-hour lessons. The students learn proper recital etiquette prior to the events, including how to walk on and off stage; how to announce their name, the name of the piece they will perform and the composer; how to Huntsville Skating Rink approach the piano; how to signal the accompanist when ready to perform; and how to bow. The Winter Recital is a formal affair, the Spring and Harvest Recitals are semi-formal, and the Summer Event is very informal with a potluck dinner along with the students performing fun and silly songs in the gardens of the studios. Cox Music Studio offers private instruction in piano, voice, guitar, folk guitar and violin. There are three new children’s choirs of various ages beginning soon. For more information, contact Cheryl Cox, B.S., Music at 745-2623. Before winter is over, get over to the Huntsville skating rink for some good oldfashioned outdoor winter fun, located in the southwest corner of the park. Happy St. Patrick’s Day Amy Xayvong, daughter of Sourignanh and Nungruthai Xayvong of Liberty, taking a bow after performing. Amy is a piano student at Cox Music Studio.
