Every student entered and there were many judges. From Lagoon, Mr. Dick Andrew, Vice President of Marketing and Mr. Trent Brown, Marketing Manager came and reviewed each presentation. Dick Andrew has been coming to visit the sixth grade for over 15 years! These nice men brought 12 free passes to Lagoon to give away as prizes for the 12 winning projects that are going on to the district science fair! They also told us that science, especially physics, plays a big part in the rides at Lagoon. Students were also very excited to hear about the newest ride at Lagoon—the Odyssey. This ride has not been announced publicly, so no one, not even any other newspaper, knows about the Odyssey except the sixth grade at Valley and now you, the reader of The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS! Odyssey will be an underwater thriller ride where two to four people sit in and control their own pods as they experience the ride. Well, back to the fair! Snowcrest Jr. High and Valley Elementary annually participate in a science fair. Again, there were some unique projects to catch the judges’ eyes. Mariah Arave’s project compares the intelligence of girls and boys. Angelena Horan is comparing the growth of plants that are exposed to different types of music. She said, “I’m excited and hope that my project is a winner.” Kellie Whetton said, “I think that it will be exciting and fun.” Kellie is comparing the lighting in photography from different angles. Twelve winners from Valley Elementary will be going to the district science fair at the Weber County Fairgrounds on February 4. The regional winners from the district fair will be announced the following week.
