Hertzke Gary W Ahlstrom John J. Hertzke, 77, departed this world on January 19, 2007 while surrounded by his family. John was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1929 to Mary D. Goodman and George A. Hertzke. He was a career military man and civil servant, specializing in criminal investigations and security. He served in England, Germany, Vietnam, and various posts in the United States. When he retired, he and Marie, his wife of over 50 years, settled in Utah, which he thought was “God’s country.” He was a very articulate man with an incredible memory for dates and the names of people he had met in his travels. He was always quick with a story or a joke. He worked hard, played hard, and loved his family, his friends, golf, and baseball. He is survived by his wife Marie; his children Chris (Devin) Calcut, Michael (Elaine) Hertzke, Marykay Hertzke, Johnnie (Holly) Hertzke, and Steven (Shelley) Hertzke; his grandchildren Ian (Mariah) Hertzke, Zackary Anton, and Bailey Arnold; and his sister, Jeannette Powell. Snow Landscaping ~ ee Gary W Ahlstrom, 69, passed away unexpectedly from an aneurysm on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at McKay Dee Hospital. Gary was born August 29, 1937 in Elsinore, Utah to Glen W. and Mary P. Ahlstrom. He graduated from Weber High School inl1955. On September 9, 1955, in the Salt Lake City Temple, he married his high school sweetheart—Velma Stromberg. Gary loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. Gary and Velma celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii with their children and their spouses. He enjoyed family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. His family will miss him at the hot dog roasts in the back yard and 4th of July sleepovers. He was loved for his honesty and integrity, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Velma; four children, Bruce (Stephanie) Ahlstrom of Huntsville, Brent (Gail) Ahlstrom of Huntsville, David (Annette) Ahlstrom of Perry, and Margo (Todd) Gary Ahlstrom Rhees of Pleasant View; 24 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildre n. Also surviving are his three sisters, Glenna (Milt) Page, Jean (Floyd) Scott, and Jolene (Ted) Weight—all of St. George, and one brother, Blythe (Anne) Ahlstrom of an.
