Show THE Page 4 OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume XIV _ Issue IX February 1, 2007 Eccles Community Art Center Hosts Photography Photography will be featured during the months of February and March at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden. The Main Gallery will open a juried exhibition of photography from the 15th Statewide Photographic Competition. The Carriage House Gallery will feature the photographs of the Ogden Camera Club Print Competition. These exhibitions will open Friday, February 2 and continue on display through Saturday, March 31, An artists’ reception, at which awards will be presented, is scheduled for February 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. h Statewide Photographic Competition will feature recent (within the last two years), original photographs by resident Utah photographers. Salt Lake City photographer and author Don O. Thorpe served as the juror for the competition. It is a varied and interesting exhibition. Awards presented at the artists’ reception will include monetary Honorable Mentions, and a $300 Best of Show award. This project has received funding from grants provided by Ogden City Arts, the Utah Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Experience the “Changing Seasons” at Wolf Creek Resort Gallery Space Exhibits The Ogden Camera Club’s Annual Print Competition will include works by club members in four categories: open, flags, close-up flowers, and statutes. Works will be judged and awards given in each category. The Ogden Color Camera Club was established to promote the enjoyment, mastery, and furtherance of photography through the efforts, cooperation, and good fellowship of its members. It meets the second Thursday of each month, September through May, in the Eccles Community Art Center’s art studio. The club holds monthly photography competitions for photographers working in slide and print media. Additionally, field trips, workshops, and socials for member and friends occur throughout the year. Red Cross Encouraging Restaurants to Join Dining for Disaster Event The Northern Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross is partnering with area restaurants in an se to raise funds for local disaster assistan' The inaugural “Dining for Disaster” fund-raising event will be held all day Tuesday, March 6. Participating area restaurants have agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds for the day to support local disaster relief. “Events like this have been held back East and have been very popular,” said Marcie Valdez, financial development director. “ restaurants help out a good cause and receive some positive publicity and hopefully some extra business that day. Any restaurant in Box Elder, North Davis, Morgan, or Weber counties that would like to participate in this year’s Dining for Disaster event should contact the chapter at 625-0850 by February 15. All proceeds raised will support disaster response efforts in the four-county area served by the Northern Utah Chapter.
