The purse was later recovered along the roadside around Pineview Dam, minus its wallet, cell phone and checkbook. Salt Lake Police later recovered the remainder of the items except a small amount of cash. A Dodge Durango stolen from the Eden area earlier this fall was recovered, and a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the crime—Jessalyn Heaton, a black female from the Salt Lake area. More recently, two females, who were house sitting a home on Snowbasin Road, were surprised to find a burglar in the home. The burglar, who had broke in through a back door, left in a hurry after being detected. The victims jumped in their car and pursued the burglar down Snowbasin Road, around the dam and part way down Ogden Canyon. They stopped at the Oaks and called 911. Police were unable to make it to the mouth of the canyon before the thief escaped out of the Valley. A stereo and a few other items were stolen. The victims were able to get a license plate number from the vehicle used in the crime—Oklahoma license plate number KDW 053. The vehicle, a brown metallic colored 1996 GMC Suburban, proved to be a stolen vehicle from Oklahoma. The suspect has been described as a white male with curly blond hair, thin build, and about 40 years of age. A truck with a loaded motorcycle was also recently stolen from Nordic Valley. The truck was later recovered in North Ogden, and the motorcycle was recovered in Ogden. A suspect has been arrested in connection with this case. In another incident that occurred on December 2, two men convinced another man to give them a ride up to the Valley to Nordic Valley. The group had a mutual acquaintance. After the two men were given a ride to Nordic Valley, they proceeded to beat the owner of the car. It appears that the two men were interested in stealing the vehicle. The victim was able to grab the keys from the ignition and escape. Detective Johansen from the Weber County Sheriff Department cautions residents to pay attention to strangers or suspicious vehicles driving around in the neighborhood, or on side roads. There are also several programs available to help neighbors deal with potential crime, including Neighborhood Watch.
