Many contrivances have been produced to lessen the labor of washing clothes, but there are objee tions against all the machines invented. The Steam Washes, however, lately introduced, is the simplest, easiest and g invention for clothes- best washing we have seen. Mr. S. Miller, agent for the salt of the new washer, placed one at our disposal for a critical trial and impartial verdict. We handed it to a competent person, who tested it with the dirtiest rags at command, and with the finest fabrics, and pronounced it a wonderful economizer of labor. The grimiest articles only wanted a little rub bing after passing through the washer. Clothing is cleaned so easily without the wear and tear of the washboard, that fabrics will last much longer by this process than if subjected to the rough treatment.
