Show . ju JOHN VAN ZiBEN i FUNERALIS HELD Tie funeral of John Van 2ieden, who waa burned to death at Ely, Nov., Friday morning, was hold at tho Eighth wp.rd meeting house Monday afternoon, under the direction of the ward bishopric Touching tributes to tho life and character of the young man were paid by E. Nouteboom, Ho-bor Ho-bor Scowcroft, Joseph BJorklund and Oscar Turnqulst The opening prayer was given by Bishop James Taylor and the benediction was pronounced by John P Lefgren Tho dedication of the grave was by Walter W Crane The following musical numbera were rendered "I Need Thee Every Hour," Samuel Burt and Margaret Burt, "Oh, My Father," R. M. Wright, Joseph BJorklund, Leona Brown and Lizzie Norseth; "Some Time We'll Understand," Un-derstand," Orson Griffin, "Thy Will Be Done," Mary Nordqulst and Myrtle Leavitt and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Some-where," Ralph D Smuln and Lizzie Norseth Larkin & Sons were in charge of funera larrangements. Mr. Van Zweden, who was a resident resi-dent of this city until four years ago, was fatally burned at Ely early Friday morning while he, as a member of the Ely Volunteer Fire company, was endeavoring en-deavoring to save a quantity of merchandise mer-chandise from a burning building" in Ely. Mr Van Zweden was employed In the Five Points drug store and later lat-er worked for the Shaw Mercantile company, the Pickett grocery and the Washington meat market. Just previous pre-vious to his death he was associated with his brother-in-law, in conducting a notion store at Ely. John Van Zweden was born In Amsterdam, Am-sterdam, Holland, June 5, 1890 The following year he came to Webor county with his parents and ho resided here continuously from that time until un-til he wont to Ely four years ago. He is survived by a fathor, John Van Zweden, Sr., four brothers, Jacob C, Carl J., Peter J. and JeBso J., and four slstors, Mrs. L. H. Murdock, Mrs. Minnie Min-nie Larson, Mrs. William S. Humphries Hum-phries and Mrs. Martin Miller. |
