Show B9iii ! ! il From New York to Washington in all Aeroplane New York, July 4 "On to Washington," Wash-ington," remarked Harry N. Atwood, the Boston aviator. He stepped into his aeroplane this morning and flew away on his proposed flight to the National capital Iro mthis city. It was eleven minutes to nine when the daring aviator rose from Governor's Islands -X " . - Atwood rose to a, height of 1,000 feet, made a wide, sweeping circle and then, like a bird, headed off down the Jersey coast in the direction of Atlantic City. The wind was light from the southwest south-west and the aviator hoped ' to drop on the sands of Atlantic City about 11 o'clock. Atwood came to Governors Island at 8:30 o'clock with two machinists, who brought with them a couple of propellers. One of the propellers was quickly fitted on in the place of one which was broken yesterday when Atwood was qualifying for his pilot's license. The aviator observed that the wind was not very favorable and ten minutes after he had reached the parade ground he headed away on his journey. "The wind is a considerable handicap handi-cap and it may prevent my reaching Atlantic City,' said Atwood, "because i exhausts the gasoline and water. The haze Is heavy and that may cause some difficulty in nicking out my course I shall fly alone. Atwood did not plan to fly over Philadelphia, but expected to take in Baltimore It is nis plan to leave Atlantic City about 3 p. m. and land in the national capital near the Washington Wash-ington monument about 6 p. m. He said he was not out for records. Flying High. Long Branch. N. J., July 4. Atwood passed over head at 9:5C, flying high and headed direct for Atlantic city. Lands to Get Gasoline. Tuckerton, N J, July 4 Atwood landed hero a few minutes before 12 o'clock to get a fresh supply of gasoline. gaso-line. His eninge was In good condition condi-tion and he started off as soon as he filled the gasoline tank and made a few adjustments to the engine.
