Show I INFLUENZA ON THE DECREASE. Most assuring is the message from Surgeon General Braistcd that the influenza in-fluenza epidemic, in ten naval districts is on the wane. The number of cases havo fallen' off more than one-half. And even more encouraging is tho announcement of tho surgeon general of the army who says vaccination against pneumonia has proved to prevent pre-vent pneumonia following Influenza. The Spanish influenza unaccompanied unaccompa-nied by pneumonia, is a disease not more to be feared than ordinary grippe, and a vaccine which will ward bff tho lodgment of tho germs of pneumonia pneu-monia will rob the epidemic of its power to cause a high mortality. We boliovo that the height of the epidemic has been reached in Ogden as well as in the soldier camps, and from now on the disease will excite less concern. But until the epidemic is entirely eradicated, tho present essential restrictions re-strictions and safeguards should be continued. |
