Already the secretary of agriculture, himself a farmer who has with his own hands, wrought in all the work of the farm, has succeeded in procuring tne removal of some of these injurious restrictions, and has announced to the country that exportation of cattle will be increassed one hundred per cent in the last year, (Cheers), I beg to assure you these interests will have most careful attention from the government at Washington and from our representatives at the foreign courts." Secretary Rusk also made a short address: He spoke of the vast natural resources of the state and predicted that the continuance of the. present enterprises of the people would make it the richest, as it is now the largest of the Uniot. What they needed and what would have, undoubtedably they was a deep water harbor at Galveston or at some other point on the Gulf. The president then held a short reception at the hotel.
