All the committees are now up with their preparations for the different departments, and an exposition of fancy work and various articles donated to the fair, will be run in the pavilion during the four days, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Supper will be served at the pavilion by the ladies every evening from 5 to 9 o'clock, price 25 cents. Every citkeo of Weber county feels, DotuinBtioLs mm the time for making come nearer, that the dirieion oo National party lines ia not going to be such it at first p-k simple, Key thing Deared. And there are many men of both the Liberal and Peoples' partial who are not half aa enthueiastio for rushing into the new sensation as they vers sixty days ago. It now dawns upon the minds of all thinking men that it is just as well to have this very serious movement thoroughly understood on both sides before the plunge is made. Just look at it. For forty years the Peoples' party has regarded the Gentiles as its essential and and permanent This view has been part antagonists. of the education of many from childhood. Now suppose that of the four members of the legislature allotted to this county each party should nominate half Mormons and half Gentiles. Are the manses of the Peoples' party going to Tote for the Gentile republicans and democrats and ignore the hab. its and prejudices of a generation or are not many of them going to vote for the men they have been taught to believe in without variation and as the only proper thing to do for so long a time? Is not this sudden change too much of a Pente costal poli tical revolution to come about at a single turn in a day? Is it human nature to be so liberal, to be so stripped of prejudice, in a moment? Is it not reasonable to expect that many Mormon people will quietly vote for their own leaders? Some will vote straight, of course, but will not enough be loyal to old habits and traditions to elect all the Mormons in this county? And if that happens, what is then to prevent the restoration of the Libera; party for a long lease of life? Furthermore, can Liberals be held in line? Won't they largely vote for their own men and spoil all slates that may be framed? And, it they do, what will the People's party do about that in this county? Suppose national party lines were to be adopted and Utah should be admitted as a state. Then suppose some such favoritism as has just been suggested should precipitate the old division of Liberals (in J People's party, what position would the Liberals then be in and what effect would an absolute People's party ascendency have upon business interests of the State of Utah? Ambitious leaders can poo-hoat these possibilities, but every reflective Liberal knows they may become realities, and bo many now hesitate more and more as tne i;iy of nominations approaches. Tarty ardor is cooling and practical thought is coming into play. With all due respect to those who have been sanguine and favorable to taking all chances, is there any good reason why the Liberal party of Weber county should dissolve? If this plunge is to be made would it not be prudent to start the movement on a scale of less magnitude and in a matter of less lm portance? proves by her versatility by her iitita-Utio- o of Theo, for instance. bi preserves th true sparkle of a Freocb cg.
