Show i UTAH CAHNERS ELECT OFFICERS FOR GOUG YEAR OGDEN Utah Canners' association, associ-ation, meeting Wednesday afternoon after-noon in an executive luncheon session in Ben Lomond hotel, elected elec-ted Ronald Wadsworth of Og-den, Og-den, divisional manager of California Cali-fornia Packing corporation, president. presi-dent. Mr. Wadsworth succeeds William Wil-liam Varney of Roy. The 25 canners, representing canning plants in all parts of Utah, agreed to postpone selection of the site and the dates for the annual convention of Utah canners can-ners until a later date. All members mem-bers of the association signified their plans to participate in the annual convention of the National Natio-nal Canners' association in Chicago Chi-cago on January 19, Harvey F. Cahill, executive secretary, reported. re-ported. H. W. Jacobs of Pleasant Grove was elected- vice president, and Mr. Cahill was elected secretary-treasurer. The new board of directors includes in-cludes Mr. Wadsworth, Mr. Jacobs, D. B. Stringham and J. F. Barker of Ogden, A. T. Smith and Angus Stevens of Clearfield, and Mr. Varney. Var-ney. Mr. Varney, presenting the annual an-nual president's address at the luncheon session, expressed appreciation appre-ciation for the " generous support" given by all canners in his administration ad-ministration of the past year. The brief session Wednesday afternoon was a feature of the unofficial un-official "canners and canning crops" week. Tuesday, canners and representative growers of canning can-ning peas opened negotiations on prices for the 1941 pea crop. Thursday Thurs-day at 3 p.m., representative tomato to-mato growers of Utah, leaders of Utah Canning Crops' association and growers of tomato plants of Moapa valley, Nevada, will confer on matters of mutual interest to the groups. Final arrangements for the fifth annual school for canning crop growers and canners' field men ' also will be completed following the Thursday afternoon session. The annual school will open Friday Fri-day morir.g in Ben Lomond hotel and continue until late today. Sessions Ses-sions during the first day will be devoted to general canning crops problems and problems of the pea grower. On Saturday other general problems of canning crops growers will be studied, and special problems prob-lems of tomato growers will be the center of interest. Eminent authorities on disease i and insect control from all parts ! of the west will be on hand to lead in discussions.
