Show Democratic Convention Saturday 1 Judge Oscar W. McConkie Selected Temporary Chairman Chair-man Meet to be Held in Provo. SALT LAKE CITY Focus of interest in-terest in the Democratic party's campaign and in the personal campaign cam-paign of Democratic candidates in the runoff primary now centers in the state-wide platform conven-; tion to be held in Provo Satur-, day. I This convention will adopt a state platform and name four candidates for Utah presidential electors. Distinguished party orators ora-tors will speak at the convention, the last state-wide meet of party workers during the campaign. Outside the convention halls, the representatives of Democratic candidates can-didates in hot contests for the nomination for Important state offices of-fices will be seeking votes and support of the members of the voting district organization. Judge Oscar W. McConkie of the Third District Court has been appointed temporary chairman of the platform convention, Parnel Black, state committee chairman announced. Mrs. David W. Moffat, wife of the chief justice of the Utah State Supreme Court was appointed appoint-ed temporary vice chairman. Committees on credentials and on permanent organization and order of business will be appointed appoint-ed when the convention opens at 10 a.m., Saturday in Provo High School. Delegates to the convention will include all Democrats who were delegates to the party's state reorganization re-organization convention, plus all Democratic nominees and candidates candi-dates for congressional, state and district offices. Preceding the platform convention, conven-tion, the platform committee will hold its final meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Newhouse Hotel. Stuart P. Dobbs of Ogden, Democratic Demo-cratic national committeeman for Utah, will be chairman of this meeting. Keynoter at the Provo convention conven-tion will be Paul Greever of Cody, Wyo., former congressman and prominent attorney, who will discuss dis-cuss "The New Deal Marches Forward." |
