Show i -o Fishing Season Opens Satutday Fishermen who take advantage of the opening date for fishing in our canyon streams on Saturday, Satur-day, June 15, at 4 a.m. will find the water extremely low for the opening. The high water has moved on and the streams are all clear and low. With low clear water, anglers should find the first few days to be the best fishing of the season. After that most places in our canyon streams will be about as alluring to the old-timers as mo ther's bath tub. So low is the water in Blacksmith Black-smith fork river that the water level at the tjtah Power and Light Company dam is about four feet lower than the spillway at the crest of the dam. The water level in the Hyrum City dam farther up the canyon is tbout level with the spillway. There is wery little water going over the dam. Fishing should be good . anywhere any-where on the opening day. Some will fish with cane pole and angle worms while others will fish only with the bamboo and favorite fly. Newell B. Cook, fish and game commissioner of the state o Utah, has declared all waters of the Btate opened for fishing from June 15 to October 31, except in certain designate places. ( In Box Elder county the Black Slough, west of Brigham, is closed, clos-ed, and in Cache county, the following waters are closed for 1940: Temple Fork, White Pine Creek, Beaver Creek and Logan River above their junction, the tail race at the Logan City Power Plant in Logan Canyon, Rock Creek and Curtis Creek from Bear Lake road to their source, Sheep Creek from Anderson's An-derson's Ranch to its source, and the headwaters of , East Canyon and South Fork Canyon as marker! mark-er! tirirl nnsteri on the grounds. |
