Show Fish and Game Department Bill Introduced A bill to altar the fish and game commission and put the functions of the state commissioner commis-sioner under the supervision of a seven-man advisory board was Introduced last week in the Senate. Sen-ate. '; The legislative proposal calls for a one-man commission to be guided by the seven-man advisory board, which board is also to serve as the Board of Big Game Control in the place of the present pre-sent five-man board. The bill S.B. 259 was introduced by Senators Sen-ators Dexter Farr and Alonzo F. Hopkin. Forming the seven-man board under the bill would be a fish biologist or culturist, a sports fisherman, a representative from the Cattle and Horse Growers' Association, As-sociation, the State Wool Growers' Association, Utah Wildlife Federation, Feder-ation, Forest Service and the State Fish and Game Commis- The bill also provided that the game commissioner be chairman of the board and his acts regarding regard-ing game department business have the approval of the board in all major matters of business. Small administrative items, such as routine office work and the like would be left to the discretion discre-tion of the commissioner, according accord-ing to arguments made in support sup-port of the bill. The new proposal, while Introduced Intro-duced as a separate unit Irom the governor's reorganization bill, Is expected to be incorporated into the governor's plan, proponents maintain. Term of office for the board members would be two years. Appointment Ap-pointment would be made by the groups represented. The state game commissioner would be appointed ap-pointed by the governor. The trespass bill, having passed in the Senate, will be brought before be-fore the House February 27 by special order. The bill if passed will make It a criminal misdemeanor misde-meanor for hunters and fishermen to trespass on private property. |
