Show York City until 1928, when he returned to his native state, taking tak-ing up his profession in Salt Lake City. He was elected to the Third District Court bench in 1932, and was reelected in 1936. He was appointed presiding judge of the Third Judicial District in 1938 As presiding judge, Mr. Thur-man Thur-man has devoted considerable of his attention to speeding up the trial of cases, and his efforts have resulted in the six courts under his supervision being able to keep their calendars clear and bring matters to trial within a month after coming to issue. As a member of the Utah bar committee com-mittee on criminal procedure for years, Judge Thurman helped to bring' about the enactment of laws to eliminate technicalities which the profession song has felt resulted re-sulted in miscarriage of justice in many instances. Judge Thurman is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, New York and Utah and a member of the American Legion and Jackson League of the Democratic party. JUDGE ALLEN G.
