Chamber Calendar Police Garn Bulletin Gets Board Heated Up Jake Garn has asked the President to personally intervene in-tervene in the heating problem at the Ogden Service Center of the Internal Revenue Service. In a letter to the President, Garn said that, for several years, Service Center employees have complained of the cold temperatures in their working areas. ' "I bring this to your attention," at-tention," Senator Garn told the President, "because I believe it involves the efficiency ef-ficiency and morale and, in some cases, the health of approximately 2,000 of my constituents. I am one of the most outspoken members of the Senate regarding reduced government spending and applaud efforts to reduce energy consumption and costs. But it's false economy that requires workers to. wear gloves while doing paperwork or to otherwise be so distracted by the temperature tem-perature that they cannot perform their work. "I understand the efficiency ef-ficiency of the Ogden Service Center has dropped markedly during certain, cold periods. In addition, I have received numerous complaints from employees of adverse health due to the cold, some with accompanying statements from thier physicians. Further, it is my understanding un-derstanding that the con struction of this . Center contributes to a lower sensible sen-sible temperature by virtue of the large open spaces that exist, giving vent to numerous drafts. The Park City Police Department in an effort to reduce our response time to a given call, would like to make a couple of simple suggestions to our citizens. Initally we would like to suggest that a brief description of the type of service required by given to the. Police Dispatch when our services are needed. Several times in the past, valuable time has been lost because of our having to interview in-terview an informant or called before the appropriate ap-propriate action can be taken. An example of this would be responding to a residence when a medical emergency exists and having to return to the Police Unit for our emergency equipment ment simply because of our lack of knowledge as to the nature of the call. We would also like to make a suggestion to all home owners in the Park City area. We feel we could greatly reduce our response time if all homes were clearly numbered. We would like to suggest that the numbers be visable from the road and large enough to be distinguishable. Unfortunately our growing and changing population makes it virtually impossible for us to know where everyone lives, as was once the case. We are at your service ;...-'-:'-:"'') Sgt.
