The additional foundations founda-tions mean better sales. And also, some of the people, say rental people who dealt for lots, thought they'd have more money by now, but don't. So we take back thelot .skies have been a and build iyHfflfa Ahfocoptxn. It ... and now! emotions" about the paucity of packed powder. "There will be a considerable money savings with the Mt. Air Mall project because it will be completed a month earlier, which, of course, will mean additional rental revenues." Wells also said that more so. than for he himself, the fair better sales.' Then we drove over to Moana's property . management manage-ment building, where we asked our same questions of Bob Wells, who is captaining the Mt. Air Mall over adjacent to Silver King State Bank. "There is no question that the weather has allowed us to pick up a month of time." Mr Wells told the Newspaper, adding that his position atop the Moana Park City ladder causes within him "mixed has to do with a clause in the contract called incentive and penalty. If the contractor contrac-tor unveils a finished structure before the contract; date, each day early spells bonus pay. Rounding out our list not of people involved in current construction but of those available was Jerry Perrine, landscape architect. Jerry told us that as far as his business is concerned the weather will bring about "no significant difference dollar wise. It just allows us to keep a few steps ahead by helping us to do this year what we'd have to do next spring." Perrine cited the walks poured around the tennis center as one such example. "When October 30th comes around and there's no snow you don't say 'Hey it's not snowing so let's start this or that project,'" Perrine said dryly.'PMs i&liade well in advance. If you can get them done before winter, you do. If you can't, you get them done come thaw." For a lot us us, though, we whose ceilings these constructors are standing upon, it's gotten to the ridiculous point of wondering wonder-ing about whether or not there will even be a spring thaw. Probably no one now mainlining Mark Ewbank at both six and ten has ever looked at clouds that way. Want Memorial Building Compromis Without Closing A wide majority of the Summit County residents who attended the November 23 public hearing on the Memorial Building want the county and Park City to reach a compromise agreement agree-ment on the building but do not want the building operated as it has been in the past. This is the conclusion drawn from a questionnaire circulated at the hearing by County Commissioner Dale Leavitt of Kamas. Responding to the question, "Do you want the Memorial Building to be handled in the future the same as it has been in the past?" eight answered "yes" while "no" received a resounding 98 -votes. When asked, "Do you want Park City Corporation and Summit County to mutually agree on how to operate the building?", 85 said "yes" and 12 said "no." But perhaps themost pivotal question, one which is the main stumbling block to a Memorial Buidling solution, inquired, "Do you feel that Summit County should budget and spend enough money to bring the' Memorial Building np-ato acctlbleHullfng standards over a period of years?" In a close vote that reflected the Kamas versus Park City turnout for the Hearing, in Coalville, 36 people answered "yes" while 39 said "no." A 78 to 21 majority said they did not want the building locked up until a solution can be worked out between the city and county and 82 of 102 responses answered that they did not favor a sale of the building at the public auction. 533 Main Street TTIHITF! 699 9431 Christmas Spoclals - on KODAK 110 INSTAMATICS , Tele-lnstamatlc 608 . What it ain't is words you can't hit with a stick. It ain't the verb to be, either. And it ain't just between you, me and the lamppost. That's for sure. Sam. What's a poem, Sam? We first heard about this workshop for pen and paper people at the gala grand and wine-soaked opening among all the other artsy hoopla and just take us with a Salt Lake grain if we poke fun at things atop your bosom; we do and of course we were thinking that's just what we need is some hot shoUuckily published poet with' his way being the only coming here to our homes to tell us what kind of garbage we're writing and why don't we do it like this. We thought no thanks. Then we thought. We'd be helping out Franci, who's going to get this town cultured if it takes..., anyway. Sam. What's a poem, Sam? Sam Hammill travels like some nomad bard with no notes but his own books of poem for the finger 1 and thumb rub he needs to pen print and publish the stuff he loves back home at Port Townsenri, Washington, and here at stop number who knows (Sam doesn't) he asks us when we ask him Sam what is poetry whether we want to play monopoly. And we laugh like you do at some sex joke you didn't get and ask him again. The whichever Chinese dynasty it was shit-kicking poet (what Sam said Ransom or one of those poet friend dudes calls him) said it moves you. And it don't hardly matter which way. Sam said he's a Confucian and an ecology freak and his poems say both of those and he said in so many words that poems groin grab you because what is a heart, really? It's what you see through a poem; It's what you hear. It's the nervous burgundy wine stains and a few boilermakers later. (And now we wonder why he never said Dylan Thomas.) It's read. Sam. You helped us out, Sam. Think we could've gotten up in front of one no less ten rational oxygen breathers with tongues and spleens, too, and offered a personal poem? No. To mirrors, yes. To tables, yes. To a beaten Underwood, yes. But to thinking talk-backers? All those potential movers would've stayed folded, bound and silent. v And we know where to find them, now when we're drinking near tears at why no one can understand what's between that line and this. We know where to find them here. ' Sam, thanks for leaving it hello, Sam. Planning Commission Posts Still Open City Planner Van Martin reports that only two applications appli-cations have been received to fill the Planning Commission vacancy created by the resigning Bill Bertagnole. To date, real estate apprais-' erTom Monge and chef Gary Avise have applied for the position. Martin said no deadline has been set for the City Council to appoint the new commission member. The term of Commissioner Ann Clark will also expire at the end of this month. Mrs. Clark, a real estate agent, is reportedly seeking reappointment to the Planning Plann-ing Commission post.
