Show Wednesday, September 11, 1996 Nephi, Utah '(Etmea-efri- B Juab Football defeats Gunnison 21 to 14 in hard fought game Greenhalgh JHS Correspondent The Juab High School Football teams played Gunnison last week. The JV team came up short, but the Freshman and Varsity teams both won. The final score for the Fresh men was Gunnison 6 and Juab 22. Outstanding players of the game were Trevor Royce, Chet Ludlow, and Ryan McPherson. Our record is now 1 and Coach Mortensen and I feel really good about the way we are processing as a team, stated coach Jacobsen. The JV team was defeated Juab led the entire game until the 4th quarter. Juab only played half the game and it wont happen again, stated Coach Owens. The Varsity team defeated Gunnison had Gunnison 3-- 18-1- 9. 21-1- 4. the opening drive, moved the 70 yards for the first touchdown of the game, but they missed the extra point. Gunnison then kicked off and Juab scored with a 40 yard run by Nick Bowles. Eric Mortensen kicked the extra point. Juab then stopped Gunnison and Josh Park recovered a fumble. Juab ran the ball 50 yards to score another touchdown. Eric Mortensen kicked another extra point. In the second halfJuab had 3 drives inside the 10 yard line but never scored. Wade Ingram caught a touchdown pass but was called back and never got the touchdown. Gunnison drove the ball down the field and scored with 7 seconds left. They then got the 2 point conversion. Games will begin at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. The Varsity team will play Manti on the Juab field on Friday, September 20. The game will begin at 7:00. Womens volleyball being organized Anyone interested in participating in Nephi Womens Volleyball is invited to attend a planning meeting Thursday, September 19th. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Old Gym in Nephi. Teams will be organized, fees will also be discussed at that time.
