Ive never met so many really talented women as last week In the Mrs. Utah contest. Just what Is it that makes the mother of four boys suddenly find herself with the title of Mrs. Utah? The answers to this question Is what we of The Neighbor staff decided to find out. Last week Mrs. Richard IS Warklns in, like many suburban housewives, was busy running errands, attending an occasional meeting, cleaning house, preparing meals and caring for her husband and four young children. Now, just one week later, we show you "A Day In The Life of Mrs. Utah, Glayde Watkins. I r $ 10 Brad, "Wi Doing fine ? What's this all about9 Beauregard Glayde feels her first Job must be that one at home. Her boys Brad age 10, Wade age 7, David 5, and Gregg age 3, along with her hiisband Richard, take a lot of her time. Being good parents and giving their children a rea' sense of responsibility Is Important to Glayde and Dick. She feels her household duties cannoPbe shirked, though she admits occasionally It would be easier to Just let things at home go. An active church member, she not only directs the singing at Primary, plays the piano in Sunday School but teaches one of the lessons In the Relief Society. Glayde enjoys athele-tic- s and fills this desire by teaching skiing In the winter and swimming, at the Matterhorn Swim School InHolladay, In the summer. She finds her ilace in community activities by being an active member of the Sugar House Jaycettes, who by the way sponsored her in the Mrs. Utah contest. A v o , . ? on to another luncheon With all these activities and many more, one would wonder 5 ' family and home fit though, a part of the Mrs. Utah contest was cooking, sewing, meal and party planning to mention Just a few of the requirements. All In all we, the members of The Neighbor staff, say Hats off to a real winner, Glayde Watkins, Mrs. Utah for 1964, who has proved herself to be mother, -- homemaker, community and church leader all rolled up In one. In fact we sly, Hats off to all the hundreds of busy, talented ladles in our. area .just like where 4 In.
