Discovery of the tires in a celler and deep freezer at a home near 3800 South and 13th East resulted when Sgt. Elmer Leake, Salt Lake County Sheriffs Ofiice, overheard several youths talking about tires and wheels in a cafe. The stolen tires were found Wednesday, Mar. 6. by Sgt. Leake. Two tires were hidden in a cellar under the home and the other two were stored away in the deep freezer in the garage. The tires were reported stolen by Mr Hedgepeth Sunday morning, Mar. 3. He said he found his car on the ground with fenders and body bent and no wheels. The thieves had jacked up each corner of the car, removed the wheel and tire, and then let the vehicle drop to the ground. Estimated damage to the car was approximately $150. Being held at the County Detention Home were three youths who admitted stealing the tires. Two of the teens, ages 15 and 16, have been referred to Juvenile Court.
