Negotiations were temporarily halted July 27th by federal mediator Jack Garvey to give management and union representatives a chance to consider proposals. Garvey is a federal mediator for the U.S. Dept, of Labor, federal mediation and conciliation service. No date has been set to resume negotiations. There is another apparent dispute between management and local 231 in regard to calling workers back to work after the strike is settled. Union spokesmen oppose Eimcos proposal to call workers back individually. McWhorter fears that many workers will not go back to work under Eimcos plan and others would come back in different capacities. |
