Minerals Corp 689-Conqu- est er 1484 Major St., SLC 84115, Dir, Hugh Gagon, 3350 Flor- - Association that bankers expect home loans to increase this year, real estate loan activity has been sluggish. According to figures compiled by Federal Reserve Bank, reflecting loan activity in all Salt Lake City banks, real estate loan volume stayed static at S372 million from February 9 through March 16, and continued an upward trend to S387 million the following week, where it flattened out and did not move for another three weeks (see graph). But Paul Williams of Walker Bank told the Enterprise, the drought has not been a topic at board meetings, and I have not heard lenders talking about its possible effect on loan activity. He did acknowledge a water source would be an added concern for a lender to consider in the case of a large subdivision loan. And, according to Utah Bankers Association, a recent survey revealed 83 percent of the states bankers feel home loans are anticipated to increase during 1977. The association reported 62 percent thought interest rates on home loans would go up this year, where 30 percent did not think the rate would change. The survey also showed 68 percent of the bankers thought money availability would remain the same this year as last year, but 25 percent thought capital would be more plentiful this year. Representing $444 million in market value and 20,000 jobs, the home building industry is as important to Utah as the water that feeds its spring flowers. As major factors in the states economy, the health of both the industry and the water supply is important oPtc? a Ai? f , v -- ..o ri ' att: PROGRAM TRADE OPPORTUNITIES , v a PWER SOrtW CO rtPRktfH OJ lo get overseas trade leads like this, you could open offices in 127 countries.
