Education and the : ISSUCS The State Board of Education and the Utah State Office of Education recognize the responsibilities of local school boards to determine attendance policies and practices. As some of our state's youth feel agitated over immigration issues in Washington, D.C., we acknowledge their views and respect their rights of protest. However, we strongly encourage our public school students to stay in school in the upcoming days, gaining the education they need today - to become fully prepared to lead tomorrow. As has been announced earlier, a march of protest is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2006. The _march begins at the Salt Lake City and County Building and is slated to move up State St., around the Capitol Building, and down again on State St. If students feel to protest, we encourage them to join that march and stay in school during the school weeks ahead.
