Show SMALLPOX RAGES ALONG IHEBORDER NINE CASES IN EL PASO PEST HOUSE AND NO TELLING HOW MANY ARE AT LARGE. Precautions Have Been Taken Against Persons Crossing the Border From Mexico In Endeavor to Prevent Spread of Disease. K Paso. Mexican health authori-it-s at Juarez on Sunday ordered examination ex-amination and vaccination, when necessary, of all immigrants into Juarez. According to General Gabriel Gavira, commandant there, the order was issued because of the discovery by Mexican officials of smallpox in El Paso. The order follows a similar one Issued Is-sued by El Paso authorities on February Feb-ruary 10, when the city health department depart-ment stationed a physician at the international in-ternational bridge to examine all Immigrants Im-migrants from Mexico. City Physician W. C. Kluttz of El Paso staten Sunday night that there were nine cases of smallpox in the El Paso pesthouse and that a thorough thor-ough Investigation was being conducted. con-ducted. He added that precautions had been taken against persons coming com-ing from the Mexican side on the report re-port of smallpox in Juarez, but said there was no way of determining the number of cases there. The El Paso physician stationed at the bridge was absent Sunday night, but Dr. Kluttz said that the regulation regula-tion had not been withdrawn. General Gavira declared that the sanitary corps had inspected every residence in Juarez and issued sanitary sani-tary regulations. All the sick, he said, had been placed in the Jesus Carranza hospital, where 1S00 sick and wounded wound-ed former Villa followers are being treated. He said no smallpox had been found in the inspection. |
