Show Plans Completed For Annual U. of U. Banquet Plans are complete for the meeting meet-ing of alumni of the University of Utah in their annual banquet and business meetings, a c c o r d i ng to word from the office of Douglas O Woodruff, executive secretary of the alumni association. The alumni business meeting will be held June 5. at 7:31 p. m., and the annual banquet will be held on the 6th at 6:30 p. m. The class reunions will be held as follows: fol-lows: Class of '14, Monday, June 5, at 8 p. m. The classes of '70, '77, '78, '79. '83, '95, '96, '97, '98, 08, '15, '16, '17, and '28 will hold their reunions at 1:30 p. m., June 6 in the Union building. The leading item on the agenda of the alumni meet is the election of officers for the next year. The 'enndidacy of several prominent alumni has been announced, according ac-cording to Mr. Woodruff. The Utah Research foundation, recently organized at the University Univer-sity of Utah, has as one of its big aims the investigation of the smoke evil of Salt Lake City and other cities cf the state and intermoun-tain intermoun-tain country. As a corrective measure, meas-ure, the foundation will investigate the possibilities of developing smokeless fuel. Mr. Lewis C. Kar- j lick, a graduate of the university' In mining engineering, and an in- ! ventor of certain methods of coal j processing, is offering the revenue that v.'ill accrue from his patents to the foundation for its experi-, mental work. The Inter-fraternity council of ; the University of Utah is attempt- ! ing this year something that is thought will be of untold benefit : to the fraternities of the campus: I an "Inerfraternity Convention," in : which active, pledge, and alumi:! members of different campus groups will come together in a social way. The work along this line already undertaken, has been productive of much good, according to faculty supervisors of campus fraternities. |
