PLEASAN- T- Future Farmers of America (FFA), a part of agricultural educational classes at North Sanpete High School, have held several activities. Last year they held a parent-membbanquet where the chapter Greenhand Award was given and past officers were honored. New officers installed at that time Jenny Tibbs, president; Kimmi Swensen, Amber Allred, secretary; Jason Jason Christensen, treasurer; Livingston, reporter; Joe Allred, and David Gleason, sentinel; activities chairman. During the summer the group went on a trail ride by the Mt. Pleasant Power Plant and enjoyed a hamburger fry. In September, the organization held their opening social which involved all 63 members. In October, the annual Deer Hunters Giveaway was held, which is a fund raiser for the organization and helps members to acquaint themselves with the local merchants. In November, Kevin Allen, FFA advisor, his wife, Pam, and Kimmi Swensen, Moroni, all attended the FFA National Coner court and calmly drained a jumper with seconds remaining. A Canyon View effort to pull out the win was thwarted by the Hawks Tyler Bailey who stole the ball with three seconds remaining, and then hit the front end of a to seal the victory. Bailey and Jason Christensen were the Hawk high scorers with 10 each, followed by Jorgensons nine and Kirt Nunley with eight. rrt' 6 Falcons were led by Rand Janes with a game-hig- h of 12 points. In the JV game, the Hawks dumped the Falcons. as Shandon Shepherd led the way with 14 points. Garrett Olson added 12 points, and in a key role, Alan Kendall dished out six assists. The Hawk sophomores blew Shanaway the Falcons, 63-4don Shepherd had 17 points for North Sanpete, including five Rory Johnson added 1 1 for the victorious Hawks. The Canyon View freshmen team kept the Falcons from being swept by crushing the Hawk Jason Tate led freshmen, the Falcons with 15 points, while Pat Bulski had 11 in the losing effort for the Hawks. The Delta Rabbits were more successful last October playing football against the Hawks than they were playing basketball last Friday evening, so they tried to turn it into a football game, complete with body blocks and gang tackling The taller Hawks dominated the backboards with 30 rebounds against Deltas 21. The tackling was especially aimed against the Hawks leading rebounder. 66" T.J. Brotherson. who grabbed nine boards. After leading 25-1- 4 at halftime, Kirt Nunley, who leads the Hawks with average of 11.4 by Doug Johnson 1 MT. PLEASAN- T- With road wins over Canyon View and Delta, the North Sanpete boys basketball team evened its record at six and six. On Jan. 6, the Hawks beat the Falcons of Canand last Friday yon View, 42-4in their first league game of the year, beat Delta The game in Cedar City was a methodical, slowed down affair with the Falcons succeeding in making it a low scoring contest. But in the end, it was the Hawks who succeeded in scoring the last three points to pull out the win. In the last minute of the game a Falcon bucket put them up by one. Nunley scored seven of his 12 points with two lay ups and a three-poibomb in the first two rt minutes. The Hawks leader, Luke Jorgenson, paced the Hawk attack with 13 points, including seven of 10 from the free throw line. In this overly physical battle, Jorgenson lost his usual cool only momentarily in the third quarter when he slipped on a Delta cheerlaid precariously leader pom-poalong the sideline. Delta had a Down 38-3chance to cut the Hawks lead in half as Jorgensen was whistled for a technical when he kicked down the the shiny pom-pocourt. Delta failed to capitalize, however, missing both technical free throws. With Delta getting the ball after the missed technicals, the Hawks showed the Rabbits they were not going to get back in this game as Troy Reese expertly drew a charging call on Jona Droubay followed by Tyler Bailey laying one in to put North Sanpete up offensive Bailey, an tackle, seemed to relish paying Delta back for last falls football drubbing, as he grinned broadly through the fourth quarter while scoring five of his 10 points. Droubay and Cameron Allen of Delta tied Jorgenson for game-hig- h honors with 13 points each. In the JV contest, the Rabbits beat the Hawks Deltas Jaren Rowley led the way with 14, but North Sanpetes Dustin Wardle took game-hig- h honors pouring in 18. Garrett Olson added nine for the Hawks. The sophomore game was marred by controversy as Shandon Shepherd, who had hit five fouled out with 21 seconds remaining. North Sanpetes scorebook had Shepherd with four fouls, but Deltas book showed five, and he had to leave the game. Shepherd never had a chance for his sixth bomb as his team lost by three, Shepherd led all scorers with 19 points and Brett Johnson added eight. The Hawk freshmen also came up just short as the Rabbit freshmen took the game, Pat Bulski had 14 points for the Hawks, with Jordan Washburn and Jason Lusty adding 11 each.
