PLEASANT-Shar- en Phelps Christensen, wife of Chesley Christensen. Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, born January 22, 1932, in Castle Gate, Utah, the oldest of four daughters of John Phelps and Carol Hys-lodied at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Aug. 1. 1997, of complications from pneumonia, surrounded by her family. At the age of 11,. Sharen contracted polio just after her father died. She received treatment in a hospital in Seattle, Washington made possible through the March of Dimes. She was told by her doctor that she would probably never walk, but her determination and the Sister Kenny treatment she received proved him wrong. This determination showed throughout her life, in every task that she undertook. Sharen married Chesley R. Christensen of Mt. Pleasant and had a very good marriage of some 48 years. She was the mother of three children, Kathy Paras-kev- a of Salt Lake City, John (Julie) of Mayfield, and Chesley Lynn of Mt. Pleasant. She had 10 grandchildren. 2 foster grandchildren and seven foster Sharen attended school Utah; . Kenilworth, Seattle. Washington; and Ephraim, Utah, graduating from high school at Snow College in May of 1949. After her marriage on May 28, 1949, they in Dorothy Clark CITY-Doro- Barbara Duchesne, (Fred) Rosquist of Redmond, and brothers. Garth Edward (Jeanine) Thomson of Huntington and Gregory (Cristin) Thomson of Ephraim. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at 1 1 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Stake Center located South State at 295 Street. Friends may call at Ursenbach Funeral Home Tuesday evening, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mt. Musical numbers were presented by Ross Terry, the grandchildren and Dorothy O. Clark SPRING Ostler Clark, age 79, passed away 2 August 1997, at her home after an illness. She was bom 4 June 1918, in Moroni, a daughter of Earl How-art- h and Serena Knapp Ostler. She married Charles Clark 4 January 1937. Marriage sealed in the Manti Temple 21 May 1953. She attended school in Moroni. She has been an active member of the LDS Church all of her life. Has served in several callings, one of her favorites was Relief Society where she gave many years in service with endless sewing and quilting projects and helping others. She loved her family and always wanted them included in everything she did. She enjoyed ceramics and spent many hours making beautiful gifts for family and others. She was employed as a Postal Clerk and worked at Valenes Flower Shop. She served with her husband at the Manti temple visitors center, and they were ordinance workers at the Manti Temple. She is survived by her husband, Charles, Spring City; a daughter, Colleen Cedar (Walt) Engle, City, UT; a son, Earl (Leslie J.) Clark, Spring City; nine grandchildren, 20 two brothers. Earl Kay and Ferry Jacob Ostler; sister, Valdine in Preceded Guptil. death by parents; brother, Grandon; sisters, Nellie Blain and Annie Brewer. Funeral services were held Tuesday, 5 August 1997 in the Spring City Chapel. Interment Spring City Cemetery. Our thanks to all who have shown their love to Mom, especially die IHC Health staff for their kind service, (unedited) lived in Provo for a while and then went to Ft. Hood, Texas when the National Guard was activated for the Korean War. She had her first child while living at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, returning to live in Ephraim while Chesley was in Korea. When he returned to the states, they lived in Payson for four years. After moving back to Mt. pleasant in 1957, Sharen was active in community affairs, serving as president of the JayCeeEtts and helping with other civic organizations. She loved bowling and bowled in leagues for more than 15 years. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Osborne Apparel for several years and later worked at the DariFrez in Mt. Pleasant, Top Stop and then went to work for Doves Market when it opened. She worked as a checker for Doves, and then for Terrels when he was on mam street and when he moved out to the location at the south end of town. She loved everyone, but especially her grandchildren. Sharen was preceded in death by her father and mother and a sister, Jill Westlund. She is survived by her husband and children, sisters, Jane Painter of Salt Lake, Jackie Lund of daughters-in-la- thy w . Prayers were offered by Ronald and Sam Cox. Interment was in the Fairview City Cemetery. Branch Cox dedicated the grave. Reva Cox Reva FAIRVIE- WRigby Cox, 82, longtime resident of Fairview passed away peacefully the evening of July 29. 1997, in the Sanpete Valley Hospital at Mt. Pleasant. Utah, of conditions incident to age. She was bom May 25, 1915, in Fairview, Utah, the daughter of William Frederick and Isola Bills She married Rigby. Carlyle Nelson Cox on June 24, 1940, in the Manti LDS Temple. She was a wonderful mother, wife and a successful homemaker who devoted her life to her family. An active member of the LDS Church, she held several responsible positions in die Relief Society, Primary and Young Womens auxiliary of the church. Except for a few years in her youth she spent her entire life in Fairview. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her six sons: William C. of Vienna, (Clarice) Virginia; Iven Woodell (Patsy), Ronald Boyd (Tammy), and Eddie Lee (Lesa), all of Fairview; Roy Samuel (Barbara) of Ml Pleasant, and Randy Kay (CUudean) of Bountiful.
