Show November 22, 1995 - The Pyramid Eathel and Jay Winkleman observe 61st anniversary Three Life AMP OREM Jay and Eathel Winkelman will celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary with family and friends on Nov. 22, 1995. They were married in Durham, NC, while Jay was attending Duke University. They later moved to Glendale, CA, where they spent 35 years, and to Carlsbad for 12 years. They then moved to Mt. Pleasant and spent 12 years. While residing there, they restored a house which they recently sold and moved to Orem, to be near their two daughters Arlene Tidwell and Pamela Rowbotham. They also have a son, Arthur J. Winkelman, Springfield, VA. They have 21 grandchildren and - Page 17 They are enjoying their new home, but miss their Mt. Pleasant friends and activities. Eathel and Jay Winkelman Helen McKinnon celebrates 99th birthday on Nov. 29 MORON- I- The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP) Camp Sanpitch honored Helena Christensen Olsen McKinnon, who is celebrating her 99th birthday Nov. 29, 1995. She was bom in 1896 in Moroni to Peter and Helena Jensen Christensen. All of McKinnons grandparents were Danish emigrants and were pioneers who crossed the plains and settled in Moroni. When she was nine years old her father was killed in a snow-slid- e leaving her to take the cows to the pasture in the mornings and bring them home in the evenings. As a young girl she took sewing classes and learned to make most of her clothes. She was in the first class to graduate from Moroni High school. She married John (Jack) Olsen on Sept. 1, 1915, in the Manti LDS Temple. They had four daughters, Christie, Olive, Helen and Jacklyn. Over the years she has held many positions in the LDS Church on both stake and ward levels. For a number of years she did temple work four sessions a day, twice a week. She has been an active member of the DUP for many years. After Jack died in 1972, she married Ray B. McKinnon. They went on a mission for the LDS Church in the England South Mission. Ray died in 1978. She loves her family and has made baby quilts for each of her 24 grandchildren, 106 greatgrandchildren, and 22 She is independent, goes to the temple often and sees her many friends. 'Smutm, Turning Point names director Tresa Sunderland, daughter of Edwin and Radene Sunderland, Chester, received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award, Oct. 22. Grandparents are Boyd and Joy Sunderland, Chester, and Bill and Ruth Howard, Nephi. Thelma Madsen named daughter of year SPRING CIT- Y- Thelma Bradley Madsen was elected "Daughter of the Year", in an October meeting of the Canal Camp Daughters of the Utah Pioneers 50's (DUP). A tradition since 1986. She was bom in Moroni, a daughter of Rees V. Bradley and Pearl Lund. She married Theron K. Madsen and has lived m Spring City since then. They are the parents of five children. She has been a active member of the DUP for over 30 years serving in many capacities. She is currently camp registrar. She has also been an active member of the LDS Church. She has served in many positions, including a visiting teacher for 44 years; and a ward and stake NOT SO BAD!
