PLEASAN- T- A plan to extend library service to disabled citizens was recently approved and will feature and home delivery and : drive-up-and-hon- k, pick-u- p. For ser- drive-up-and-ho- vice, patrons can call ahead of time to make a request, then drive to the library and honk. The staff will take materials out to the car for preview, then check out items wanted. Home delivery can be accommodated by patrons calling the library and requesting materials to be checked out to their cards. Staff members will deliver the requested materials to patrons homes and pick them up when patrons are finished. These two services are for disabled citizens only and not for the general public. Future plans for the disabled include a computer terminal at City Hall whereby patrons will be able to access the library catalog as well as the Internet Library Network, then call the kv'. Pleasant Public Library for all patrons who reside in unincorporated areas of the county. Beginning Jan. 3, those residents may use the library without $36 paying the annual fee that is assessed to Spring City, Moroni, Wales and Fountain Green. Because of partial funding received from Fairview City, their residents pay an annual fee of $20. This is a great opportunity for county residents involved to get a library card, according to librarian Bonnie Mellor. Anyone with further questions may contact the library at Due to the increased usage (54 percent of all check-outby patrons, the Mt. Pleasant Library Board and the City Council asked other city1 councils and the county commissioners to participate in funding the library. With the exception of Fair- view City, who was asked to contribute $2,486 but paid and the county, who will contribute the full $3,588 that was requested, all other city councils voted not to fund the library. Amounts requested from the other cities were Moroni, $2,896; Fountain Green, $1,499; Spring City, $1,858; and Wales, $487.
