Mr. Kurton, his widowed mother, and his only sister, Mrs. Martha Reynolds, of this city crossed the plains with the ill-fated Martin hand cart company, and arrived ar-rived in Salt Lake, Nov. 1 8 o C . From here they went to Pleasant Crove, where they resiiled a short "time, and then moved to Mt. rioasant where they have lived ever since. Mrs. P.urton was born in Smith county, Virginia, October 1, 1857. She was the daughter of Alexander and Mary Pritchett Brooks. Her father was killed during the Civil War, and her mother, with three daughters, came to Mt. Pleasant in 1869. Mr. and Mrs. Burton were married fifty years ago in the old Endowment House at Salt Lake City. They have always been staunch members, of the L. D. S. church, and liave been instrumental in-strumental in the upbuilding of Mt. Pleasant, having endured all of the hardships of the early pioneers. Mr. and Mrs. Burton are still well and hearty, and are active and interested in-terested in all civil and church af. fairs. It is our wish that they may yet live to see many more wedding anniversaries, an-niversaries, and" enjoy life to the fullest extent. |
