Pleasant Xorth ward chapel for Miss Virginia Burton, seventeen year old daughter of Mrs. Belle Bur-ion Bur-ion of 91 West Robert avenue, Salt Lake City, who was drowned in tha Municipal Baths at Salt Lake City bast Friday. The services were in charge of Bishop II. C. Jacobs. Music was furnished fur-nished by the ward choir. Prayers were offered by Bruce Seely and hristian Johansen, and the speakers were James B. Staker, President Daniel Rasmussen and Bishop Jacobs. Ja-cobs. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The grave was dedicated dedi-cated by A. U. Miner of Fairview. Miss Burton and two others were the only people in the pool at the time of the accident. She was evidently evi-dently seized with cramps, as she was an expert swimmer, and had crossed the width of the pool twice when she went down. According to the other two bathers, the girl threw -up her hands but once and then called call-ed for help as she went down near the west side of the pool. Police headquarters were notified at once and officers rushed to the scene with a pulmotor. Upon reaching reach-ing the place they assisted James Dwyer. an attendant, in finding tlp body and bringing it to the surface. Ovygen was administered and! a physicion summoned from St. Mark's hospital, but all efforts to resuscitate the .girl were without avail. Miss Burton w-as educated in the public schools of Salt Lake, the Irving Ir-ving Junior High School and the Murray High School, and had finished finish-ed a business course at .Henagers' Business College. At the time ot her death she was in the employ of the Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Co. at Salt Lake. Miss Burton is survived by. her widowed mother, and the following brothers and sisters, Milford, Mabel, Viola and Dorothy Burton, all of Salt Lake City. Her father, William P-.irton, son of the late Joseph Burton Bur-ton of this city, was killed in the mines in Carbon county several years ago. Out of town relatives and -friends who came to Mt. Pleasant' to attend the services, besides the girls mother and brothers and sisters, were Mr. and Mrs. James Burton, Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Burton, Mrs. John Burton and son, Ted, of Kenilworth; Mrs. Elizabeth Alired, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allied, and LaRue Alired of alt Lake City; Mrs. .Maud Hearn and children of Milford; Mr. and Mrs: J. C. Feseher and family of Moroni; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Christensen, Chris-tensen, Mr. and Mrs. A. U. Miner, and Mrs. E. A. Day of Fairview. The Arden Literary Society of Wasatch Academy gave their first program of the year Thursday morning, morn-ing, with Harold Johns in charge. i The following numbers were given: piano solo, Miss Alma McXeal; vocal solo, Thelma Odekirk; reading, Miss ; Madge Muchmore; selections, Girl3 Quartette; Reading, Zelda Foy; , Scene at the Carbon Foot-ball game.
