Show FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. SUM ALLEN Funeral services were held Tliuis-day Tliuis-day at two o'clock p. m. at the South Ward chapel for Mrs. Susinah Merz Allen, age 72 years, and one. of Mt. Pleasant's leading citizens. Bishop A. E. Mcintosh conducted the services. ser-vices. Elder Mads Anderson offered the opening prayer and the choir sang "Sister Thou Was Mild And Lovely." Among other songs rendered rend-ered by the choir was "We Lay Thee Softly Down To Sleep." A duet by' Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ericksen was accompanied by the choir, and Elder Harry Ericksen sang "O My Father." The speakers were President C. N. Lund, Elder James W. Anderson, Elder Daniel Rasmussen, and Dr S. H. Allen of Salt Lake City. Many beo.uiful eulogies were given in tribute tri-bute to the character and life jf Mrs. Allen by the speakers. The closing prayer was offered b;. Elder Kimball Johansen. The .grave at the cemetery was dedicated by Elder El-der Mads Anderson. Mrs. Allen died in this city last Monday afternoon. S'he leaves four children and a number of grandchildren grand-children to mourn her loss. Her children are President A. Merz of the North Sanpete Stake, who lives at Mt. Pleasant, Emily Merz Hugentob-ler, Hugentob-ler, of Salina, Mrs. Susanah Merz Hugentobler, and H. C. Merz, both of this city. She was born in Zurich, Switzerland on March 14, 1847, and came to Utah in 188 2, makin,g her home at Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Allen was a very highly respected re-spected citizen of this community, and had many friends which was shown by the large funeral and the many beautiful flowers given. |
